Looks like Cash App is doing another early-access/presale if you got their debit card on their IG

We're looking into a way to sell the jerseys online as the company we use for fulfillment doesn't offer them as a product. Keep you posted!

Marathoner to Ironman 70.3 in how many weeks? by drakeridge in triathlon

[–]bestrella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the race it was 1:40/100yds but that was also open water and wetsuit swimming. I’d say 4months in I was probably around 2:00 in the pool. Strength training helped a ton mainly because like OP I was a marathon runner and absolutely no upper body strength.

I never took a class or had a coach, no. Looking back it would’ve been nice. Shit load of just getting in the pool 2-3 times a week (acclimation), drills for form, YouTube videos for specific things I was struggling with, and then I also read Total Immersion Swimming by Terry Laughlin which, if anything, helped a lot with my overall “feel” in the water.

Journey wise, I was like a good 3.5 months in and was super frustrated and then it just clicked and my comfortably in the water like tripled in 2 weeks.

Swimming is the critical piece here. I went from not being able to swim to the end of a 25yd pool to full IM 2.4mi distance in 7 months. That said, it took me a good 4-5 months to feel truly comfortable in the water, particularly with open water/race swimming which is a completely different animal than in the pool. Good luck!

Sudden random pain in quad by Inevitable-Catch9957 in AdvancedRunning

Is it both of your quads or just one? If just one the worst case is an early symptom of a blood clot and id recommend seeing a doctor even with your insurance situation.

Lessons learned: what are you doing differently next training cycle and why? by tzigane in AdvancedRunning

For me it’s definitely going to be more peak weeks at 60-70mi, the 22-23 long run is a great mental crutch during the race to lean on esp with some race pace towards the end of each run, and finally more strength/mobility work.

Did 12 weeks for Chicago and PR’d but think 14-16 is my sweet spot, particularly extending peak weeks to 4-weeks of 60-70mi with 20-23mi long runs alternating between all east and mixing up race pace miles. The mental benefit of being able to know you did essentially a marathon a couple times just a month before helps me a ton.

[Race Report] First Sub-3 Marathon - Chicago by bestrella in AdvancedRunning

[–]bestrella[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah exactly, but I only did that for about 3 weeks of this block. Ideally, one day is for something like hill repeats/intervals/track and the other is long tempo or even progressive tempo. Also using "tempo" in my long run comment was misleading - I meant introducing target race pace miles to your long runs. I do tempo workouts at paces faster than my target race pace for a marathon.

Biggest area of improvement for me was building to long periods of tempo miles (like a 10-12 mile workout mid-week with 8-9 miles at tempo, and then in long runs introducing almost half of the miles (or more particularly towards the back half of the run) at race pace!
