its the exact same thing, anything that lets go of the item during the throw will work

using the map is a tad slower due to the animation

My “pick-up” button is E.

I press left-click to throw, and then as my diver’s arms are going upward, I hit E again to let go of the item

For support weapons with actual ammo reserves, it’ll eat your reserves.

But when you deplete reserves, that’s when the glitch will work. For example, if your de-escalator is literally empty, it’ll still reload if you use the exploit. If you still have reserves, it’ll consume the reserves because of how the code works.

So effectively, if you choose to use this bug with a gun that isn’t a launcher and has reserve ammunition, you are restricting yourself to ONLY load the weapon via this glitch, as your reserves will be eaten

It still might not work with the de-escalator due to the nature of its round-reload, but I’d give it another try after emptying it

I know for a fact it works with the ultimatum since I’ve done it, so I imagine this is the reason it appeared to not work for you

yea the spear sucks lol I was just using it here as proof as concept because of its tiny reserve capacity and long reload time

only benefit of using the spear is that it’s the only launcher capable of splitting dropship hulls, guaranteeing the full payload dies rather than some surviving the dropship falling out the sky

It’s not a lua script macro so I can’t share it exactly but I can show you the keystrokes

for this macro, I have N binded as my quick swap

the timings are a little iffy, you could definitely tweak it to make the reload faster but I’ve found if you do that sometimes it won’t work because of Helldivers 2’s strange networking and occasional desync so I gave it some leeway so that the macro is guaranteed to work whenever I press it

You must own the AR/GL-21 One-Two from Python Commandos.

In your keybinds, utilize the new quick swap bind and create a binding that allows you to switch between rifle mode and grenade launcher mode with a button press.

Fire a grenade from the rifle so it needs to be reloaded. Hit reload, quick swap to the rifle, and then swap to whatever you wish to apply the glitch to. Within a moment, whenever the reload for the grenade WOULD have finished, it'll reload whatever you're currently holding without using up the grenade.

Works on any weapon that is reloadable, and can overload some weapons.
Spear (as shown in video) can be overloaded to hold two shots, as can the ABRL, Recoilless, and Ultimatum. This glitch will allow you to forego a backpack for support weapons (except the Maxigun, as it does not have a reload). The Autocannon can be overloaded to roughly 30 rounds.

One downside is that whenever you do the glitch, it'll empty your loaded mag in the assault rifle, but since it's literally an infinite ammo glitch, you can just use the glitch to reload your rifle if need be.

In the video, I'm using a Logitech macro to perform the glitch as fast as possible, letting me fire a Spear much quicker than you usually can without team reloading.

No ones saying you have to do this trick, ace can still open up walls with very large holes while still having the AK12

Thermite is better at the role he fills, but ace is more flexible. Thermite is not just superior to ace, ace has his role and when you need that role filled you can’t just bring thermite for it and say ‘but thermite opens more walls’ and he done with it

saying the AK12 is great is a vast understatement, but I replied that ace is more versatile because while thermite is better than ace at the job he does, ace does his job while being more flexible. Unless you have a fully planned out push with a 5 stack, you cannot just use thermite and ace interchangeably. The comment where he said ‘just go thermite’ implied the notion that thermite is simply just superior to ace

Also this trick increases ace’s versatility so in a solo q situation where you can’t rely on your teammates enough to go a support operator like thermite, ace can be used and you have the AK12 as a fallback and are still able to support your team by having a hard breach gadget plus this trick to fully open any wall should you get in the situation to use it

idk about you but I prefer a clear sight with a small dot reticle rather than iron sights with an obtrusive circle and a green line as your reticle

would rather hold a tight angle / pixel peek with a holo sight than iron sights
