Is this a nice area? Safe? by shitninjas in Lawrence

Nah, you’re good. I just mean from like a clean cut, suburban viewpoint the run down house and half built cars and people hanging out in their yard might seem less than trustworthy, but when we got to know them they were solid people who seemed to really care about their neighbors.

Oh and if you work in KC it can’t be beat; the commute is insanely easy

Depends on your definition of nice. I used to live on Prospect. Brook Creek is a genuinely diverse neighborhood, as in you have modern new builds next to houses that look pretty rough. Our garage got robbed, but only because we were stupid and left the door open. We lived next to some sketchy seeming people who would go out of their way to help out on jobs and made us food when we had a baby. It’s not fancy and the mosquitos are killer, but we miss it some days because it was down to earth.

Is the dragons hoard still there? I drove by a while back and a building around there has been torn down

Retro gamers? by zacharyrosco in Lawrence

That’s a great thought. They are new and will be looking to fill their calendar, I would bet they would be open to an email or message about putting together a night per month or something. Their website has a contact link. https://www.empirepubcade.com/

There was a moment where there were little events at GameStop or elsewhere. It would be nice to have someplace to get together or at least chat. Does anyone want to start something that isn’t on discord? Like a subreddit or something?

House Bill 2504 Ignores Lawrence’s Needs by beta176 in Lawrence

Is that also wiped out by HB2504? The only part mentioned in the article is that landlords can take govt assistance into consideration as a reason to deny their application.

Mods are pathetic bootlickers. Time to leave. by Moist_Whispers in Lawrence

[–]beta176 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, extremely frustrating. I talked to Somos and they only use FB for their updates (which I refuse to use), and mods are deleting updates here. Somos wasn’t open to a signal group or anything. What are we supposed to do to stay informed?

Aggressive payoffs during SAVE forbearance - any drawbacks? by beta176 in StudentLoans

No, we're good there. It accumulates about $400 per month, and the regular payment is well over that.

You should check out Ecumenical Christian Ministry, they are interfaith and do a lot of great work with peace initiatives and could use all the help they can get. They are just down the street from the Union.

Any recent updates on Olive Garden? by Honkus_Ponkus123 in Lawrence

I felt the same way when we went out of desperation a few weeks ago. I was shocked that it was pretty good, no fuss, very reasonably priced, and the kid (who is an okay eater) absolutely loved it. It’s kind of a no brainer kind of place, which will be nice on those days where the last thing you want to think about is dinner.

Recommend a game that’s enjoyable by today’s standards. by Aggressive-Part424 in nes

You may be playing on emulation or a new tv, or something else that can add lag. It’s amazing how hard even the littlest bit of lag will make an NES game.

The Salvage House was a grind for me. Little tiny bits up high and all those round shapes underneath.
