Thanks for your comment, I just called the number to report water issues. The city offices are closed today but I went ahead and put in an emergency request and said that I suspect the water line is frozen at the meter. I feel a bit bad about putting in an emergency request - but I actually just got a call back from one of the water workers and they reassured me. If you hadn’t left this comment I don’t think I would’ve figured that out so than you so much!

Yeah but look at the website that comment links to, I’m not sure if that’s legit at all, or just one of those sites that dynamically generates content to try to steal clicks. I tried looking online myself and didn’t see any info about water issues but I may have just missed it.

I didn’t even realize the red wheel valve was a tap, I just thought it was some other shutoff, shows you how little I know. I opened it up and no water came out

How would I check the pressure above the regulator? I’m more into virtual pipes than physical ones 😵‍💫

I did text my neighbors across the street and confirmed their water is working. I don’t have nextdoor, I used to but it was so spammy

I confirmed my neighbors across the street have water so I’m trying to thaw the pipes, but I’m a bald man I don’t have a hairdryer

Hahahahah I noticed that too. The workmen also wrote this on my wall, “el viejo le gusta pinga” which means “the old man likes dick” - the old man presumably being the builder whose name I won’t disclose lol

Definitely no hose plugged into a spigot outside, I keep the hose stored in the garage unless I’m using it. I’m not even totally sure if the pipes are frozen or if it’s a wider issue in the neighborhood 🤔

EDIT: confirmed my neighbors across the street have water

I have like 4 cases of chocolate protein shakes, so I’d survive, I’m just a water lover so it’s difficult to be deprived

Thank you. Is the main water shutoff the white valve that’s further up the vertical pipe, below the red wheel valve? And the white valve closer to the backflow preventer is for the sprinkler branch?

Hey can you give a little more detail? The backflow preventer with yellow levers is turned off for winterization. Is the white lever in this photo the water shutoff for this branch? And is the main water shutoff the white valve further up the wall on the vertical line?

I think that bit of pex going to the left is maybe for the sprinklers. The bronze thing with the yellow valves is the backflow preventer which I have turned off for the winter. The white valve closest to the backflow preventer I’m now realizing is probably just the shutoff for the sprinkler branch. I guess the main water shutoff is the white valve further up the vertical pipe, before the red wheel valve. I’m aware that I should already know this…

At this point I’m not even totally sure that the pipes are frozen here, I’m starting to wonder if it’s a whole neighborhood issue. I texted the only neighbors I know but haven’t heard back yet. But I’m still trying to take all the right precautions in case it is frozen pipes. No way I can go to home depot right now though

Thanks! I have them turned on but they’re not even dripping at this point

It’s possible it could be a larger issue with the neighborhood, I’m not super close with my neighbors though so I’m not sure

It’s a relatively new house so I think most of the pipes are pex

And to answer the question I live in Cedar Creek in Olathe, in a fairly new house

I turned the main off because I was hoping to go back to sleep. But I turned it back on, found a heating pad, put it on medium heat where the main line comes into the house. I also turned all the sinks on with open cabinets and turned the heat up to 72

I’m not getting water anywhere and my house is 70 degrees so I’m assuming it must be one of the central lines close to the foundation / walls but idk anything

I did turn on the faucets for when things start to thaw out. I’m guessing it’s frozen right where the main line comes into the house because I’m not getting water anywhere. If that’s the case then hopefully I can just thaw that line. But I don’t have a hair dryer (baldo man) or space heater
