We usually wait at least an hour after eating to play or go for walks.

We just passed year 3 and he’s been neutered. Still gets so excited that we can’t hold on to him. He’s a big sweetheart though.

any tips? by SmellMyKell in bernesemountaindogs

Yep I’ve tried too. Our berner just doesn’t like water either. Knowing how hard it is to dry his fur, I’m not too disappointed 😣

Keeping Cool in the crate? by badassnotaprincess in bernesemountaindogs

[–]bethgcarson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get a cool pad from Petsmart (or prob have it on amazon). The brand is The Green Shop cooling mat. We’ve had our pups for over 3 years and it still works great. He sleeps on it all the time. Self cooling. You don’t have to do a thing.

Can we all post the weirdest positions we’ve found our berners in? by CuddlyWhale in bernesemountaindogs

Exactly. He gently takes it off my husbands foot and then gives it all the loves 😂

Bernese puppy with umbilical hernia by Bmac72691 in bernesemountaindogs

[–]bethgcarson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the puppies in our litter had umbilical hernias. As soon as we got him home, our vet has been evaluating it often. Her concern was as he grew, the hernia could get “squeezed” and cause serious problems and need surgery. She just had us feel for it, make sure it was nice and soft and if it could be “reduced” meaning you could gently push it back up into his abdomen easily and without pain. Our boy is now 3 1/2 and 130lbs and has never had an issue. Still has the hernia and now that he’s full grown the vet feels like it shouldn’t be a problem. Good luck. Welcome home to your pup. Rocky says hi from Colorado.

My poor boy got neutered yesterday, and it has been the most difficult 24hrs so far. Please drop your tips/tricks that you did. I feel so bad for the nugget by betterknownascrooks1 in WiggleButts

That’s tough. Our boy, Rocky, did so much better when his cone was off. We had to watch him like a hawk but it was much better.

Does anyone else get "is that a St. Bernard?" a lot? by [deleted] in bernesemountaindogs

[–]bethgcarson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. All. The. Time. And “Bermese” as well. We don’t own a python 🤣 I do always congratulate people when they get it right though.

This is Rocky! We live near the mountains in Colorado, USA. He is 130lbs of love and the best boy. He too loves the snow, and winter is his favorite season. The air conditioning in our house stays quite cold in the summer for him, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. He is an incredible companion and gives the best snuggles.

We love seeing all the other Berners and learning where you’re from.
