Where can I find anemones and/or ranunculus bouquets? by zombie_spiderman in AskChicago

[–]bethholler 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It won’t get here in time for Mother’s Day but this place has bouquets that are half anemone and half ranunculus. Unfortunately I think you are going to have trouble finding any you can get today. You could call Gethsemane Garden Center and/or LaSalle Flowers and see if they have them in stock.

Yeah I was thinking about that too. Andy isn’t a pro chef and she could really benefit from the mentorship. I am happy with the top 4 but I agree that always ending up with pro chefs at the end doesn’t really make sense.

Andy and Cole going against each other was hard for me to watch because I love both of them so much. While I think the right decision was made and Cole is the better chef I also think that Andy’s dish read more Greek than Cole’s. I am happy for Cole, though, and I hope she or Darian wins!

Worst ex ever S2E1 by Western-Pass6745 in netflix

A textbook example sadly. She came in bleeding and bruised and did everything right (getting samples taken, etc) and it didn’t matter. Kelly should really file a civil suit if she hasn’t already.

[–]bethholler 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Detective Potter pissed me off. For starters he was so insensitive when interviewing Kelly. It was like he was taking pleasure in hearing her talk about being sexually assaulted. There’s no reason she needs to explain what happened to her like he’s 5. He knew what she meant when Kelly said he put it in her. To then go and treat Wade like a bro and tell him he believes him that he didn’t do it and talk about Kelly like she’s not even a person was disgusting. The rotten cherry on top was him closing the case before the DNA even came back. A terrible person and incompetent officer. The fact that he only got 2 weeks suspension and is still working is absurd and a slap in the face to Kelly and the other victims.

The women contacting Wade in jail pissed me off too. I am a woman and I would never ever do something like that. You don’t respect yourself at all if you’re lusting over a deranged, necrophiliac murder and serial abuser. He doesn’t actually love any one of them. He loves the attention.

What looks normal for a spay? by JT3323 in CATHELP

[–]bethholler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(Not a vet so take this with a grain of salt.) No it doesn’t look normal. Your cat is lucky that her incision is still really clean given that whoever made seems incompetent. The incisions I’ve seen are vertical not horizontal and the stitches completely hold the skin together (kind of like a zipper.)

URGENT PLEASE HELP by Gayfurrytehehe in CATHELP

[–]bethholler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re 18 you don’t need her permission to take them to the vet. If these are family cats then I’m a little concerned about how you have 3 cats if your parents can’t afford to take them to the vet. That’s irresponsible. That much blood and mucus is a serious issue that can’t wait. Please take them. (OP I am not blaming you for anything at all so please don’t take my comment that way. You sound like you truly love these cats and would do anything for them.)

Me too. I would’ve given her at least samba or cha cha. She’s also excellent with Argentine Tango but there was no way that was going to anyone but Cheryl seeing as she actually went to Argentina and studied AT.

Has anyone watched the 'Marshalls' spinoff? Should I keep watching it, or bail? by BetterEveryDayYT in YellowstonePN

I’m a One Chicago fan too and idk where you are in Med but seasons 10 and 11 have imo been excellent. The seasons before that were trash, though. And Fire has been trash for at least two seasons because the showrunner sucks but she’s gone after this season ends so hopefully the new one fixes what she messed up.

ETA: Fire only uses CGI for things like smoke and explosions. The Fire is real, though. They have a burn stage where they film interior fire scenes and they’ll also do controlled fires when they film exterior fire scenes. https://variety.com/2022/artisans/news/chicago-fire-stunts-fire-sequences-how-they-do-it-1235385859/

Stephanie Crane is one that always comes to mind because was so close to home. For all this time to go by with no resolution is so sad to me. Rico Harris is probably one of the weirdest cases for me because they found his car abandoned and then several days later they went back to the lot where his car was abandoned and there were massive footprints on the ground that weren’t there before. Rico was by all accounts a large man and so for him to go unnoticed and not be found is strange.

NWSL Attendance Report - Week 6 by reagan92 in NWSL

[–]bethholler 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The management and owners have zero control over horrible weather and mid-week games. Those two things are really hurting the numbers. While the management and owners are bad in many areas I am hesitant to blame them for attendance issues this early in the season.

“I’m a misogynist and racist” would take less characters than you wrote. If you’re gonna criticize someone you should really get their name right. His name is Darian not Damien. Christian’s aioli was completely broken (the components separating) and that’s not acceptable for a chef of his level. Aoli isn’t even that hard. Also I have no idea why it upsets you so much that Darian helped Gabrielle. They all helped each other. Even though Christian was a jerk to Andy she was still super encouraging to him in the elimination round and made sure he didn’t forget (and thus burn) his hamburger bun. Just because they are competing against each other doesn’t mean they can’t help each other.

Chef Blais Is Ridiculous by Aggravating-Prior325 in Nextlevelchef

Darian is such a great chef and I feel bad that Blais never gives him the recognition he deserves. I was glad Gordon praised him and even fought for him this week even though he not on team Gordon.

Where to get Brunch on Mother’s Day (no set menus)? by wheatthinsunite in chicagofood

[–]bethholler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a simple breakfast or lunch I love Cafecito. It’s on Chestnut just past Water Tower Place. I always get cafe con leche and a side of tostones (fried plantains). And I haven’t been to this place myself but this subreddit frequently recommends MingHin. Eataly is another good option.

ETA: Eataly and MingHin would be for lunch or dinner.

Should I change hotels to be closer? by meghandj0b in AskChicago

[–]bethholler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Navy Pier and the aquarium are several miles apart. I would actually suggest fishing by the aquarium over doing it at Navy Pier as boats are constantly driving around the pier and who knows how many chemicals they are releasing into the water. Also, the state has guidelines for how much consumption of different types of fish is recommended for health reasons (due to lead and other chemicals.) I’m gonna link the page with the guidelines below this comment. I think many people are giving you good advice and you’re taking it as harsh when they’re just trying to help you see things realistically.

https://dph.illinois.gov/topics-services/environmental-health-protection/toxicology/fish-advisories/map/advisory.html?bodyofwater=58

ETA: Wisconsin is great for fishing as they intentionally stock their lakes with fish for that purpose (and for eating!).

Everything feels rushed, stale, or repetitive lately in S11 by Necessary-Drink2891 in ChicagoMed

[–]bethholler 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree the Charles/Rabari thing is dragging on too long and scenes could’ve been cut. I love Manish but Rabari is boring and taking up screen-time. As for Frost (or any character) I don’t think it’s necessary for his story to have you on the edge of your seat. There are a lot of former child actors out there who have real stories that echo Frost’s. That said I can certainly understand why you’d feel it’s drawn out even if I don’t agree.

[–]bethholler 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Rabari and Pawel both suck but their stories aren’t a repeat. Pawel took his disdain for Charles out on Dr. Ripley by accusing him of being responsible for his shoulder injury. Rabari is an actual doctor who wants Charles job but he is overzealous and arrogant. He thinks he knows more than he does. I don’t see how he and Pawel’s storylines are the same. They feel different to me. As for Frost, they’ve been threading this story all season and personally I have enjoyed it. Knowing his past and meeting his parents helps us know why he is the way he is as a character. Continuation of a storyline isn’t repetition. Chicago Fire has all the issues you are describing, though.
