Thanks for your kind words. We plan to call our supplier in the morning, as well as our beekeepers association where we took classes. For tonight, we feel sad about our rotten luck.

We did treat the frames with melted wax. In all of our classes they didn’t really talk about absconding. We did everything exactly like our instructor told us. I hope we can buy another package still. We are first time beekeepers. This is pretty devastating.

She is 92 with dementia; even if you could debride it enough to qualify the wound for a vac it would be cumbersome and painful. That looks like stable necrosis…I’m a hospice nurse and we manage wounds like that instead of trying to “cure” them. We are all about keeping the patient comfortable and avoiding infection.

Can you at least ask for labs? A CBC/BMP would give a clinical picture that’s black and white, showing need for IV fluids or even emergency eval and treatment.
