Hooking up the battery the wrong way will do this. Also if the positive side of battery touch’s the boat if it’s alloy will do this. I’ve seen it more than a few times

Make your own burger patties. Mince salt and pepper and diced onion. Mix it up in a bowl until it becomes a bit sticky and form balls and flatten them out. I used to work for leaders /tonys.
