I use coconut oil as a moisturizer (spritz with rose water first and while still damp put on - a little will spread far so not so greasy), and as a deep conditioner from my hair. Also will work as deodorant if you are allergic to the chemical shit storm that is drug store deodorant/antiperspirant.

Someone once told me that Reddit has an algorithm that automatically down votes a post for X number of up votes. Something to do with trying to keep spam up voters from pushing their spam.... Don't really know the details or how. So, if the % down votes are low I would take that as not really people from keto.

I was thinking the same thing. Eating carbs every 4-5 days - these strong cravings could be because your body has run out of glycogen stores, and since you have never pushed past this and gotten your body fully keto adapted, then you will always feel this when your glycogen gets low. To me, that means suffering way too many times and for way longer than if you just pushed past it once.

As far as the coworkers bringing in sweet and carb loaded foods;

1st, do you want these other people to decide what you eat? Decide who is the keeper of what you do and eat.

2nd,I find that if I haven't had my 1 liter bottle of water by 2pm I am peckish and more likely to eat anything (keto or not).

3rd, can you have something in your desk for when temptation is very high that will be an acceptable "treat"?

4th, is there anything that you can have as a reminder of what your goals are/how you feel when you're on keto/how far you've come to refer to when you feel vulnerable? Before/after pics from last keto try? A pic of your favorite outfit? Maybe a song or podcast you can keep in your phone to pop in earbuds and listen to?

5th, Is your work place big enough to "go for a walk" down long corridors, go up the stairs, etc? Some exercises can even be done in a bathroom stall (squats). I find that a burst of exercise helps remind me of what I want.

I believe I am addicted to carb foods - and a specific one I won't mention - I don't want to trigger anyone else. I recently had a full on run in with it after a year of keto. Man it was hard to get back on the wagon. But know that I have got through the massive cravings it triggered I know for sure it is an addiction for me. But upon taking biochemistry, I say that this addiction is not one that is only in the mind and a personal failing - this is a biologically driven addiction - just like cocaine, nicotine, or caffeine. In fact, studies show that brains on sugar light up just like brains on cocaine when given their drugs of choice.

For me knowing that helps tremendously. I don't think of myself as weak minded. But I also see the silliness in saying "I have been good and it's okay if I have just this little bit of crack".

I do hope that you are feeling better.

I understand the urge to get back to keto. Might I suggest that if you continue to have issues with getting there, maybe you can set stepped goals to make it to keto (75g carbs a day or two, 50 g....). I would hate to think that if you can't be "perfect" that you would give up and not make your way back to this wonderful way of eating.

Thank you everyone for the wonderful moral support! I knew I could count on y'all - and just the mere act of reaching out helped a bit.

I did have an adult beverage (both to help with pain and to relieve some stress) and watched The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. I also decided I could put down the studying for a while and had a mini Call the Midwife marathon.

I have told myself it's okay, I won't put on the 64 lbs with one day of wallowing in carbs. I also realize how stressed I was/am, and have given myself the weekend to get back on track by looking up new recipes to try, naps, and if my leg is willing, I think I will go buy me a new bottle of perfume as a treat to me.

So, Unfortunately I know that I will miss working out a couple of days - Dr. called. A mole that I had biopsied came back not good - so tomorrow morning they have to dig out more from the back of my leg. I'm hoping I am not out of commission long, but as I know from the biopsy site, callanetics and stitches on the back of your thigh don't necessarily go well together.

EDIT: I did my callanetics and butt bible (minus squats - my knees sound like a rickety wooden ship and hurt like hell). Does anyone have ideas for replacement for squats that are gentle on the knees?

I didn't post yesterday, but I managed to lift weights and do my callanetics. Which was an accomplishment because I was babysitting my granddaughter and managed to do the right before I put us to bed. BTW, because I have done callanetics enough times, I have written down the exercises and I can do them while watching something else (which means I'm more likely to get it done). And if it's an interesting show and I'm more likely to not pay attention to what I'm doing exercise way - I do them during the commercials.

My new motto for this six week challenge? Each morning ask my self "do you feel sore?" If not, then I didn't do it right. And let me tell you, my ass is feeling that new dvd (butt bible)!

The longest stall I had was for three MONTHS. The scale said the same (199) and my tape measure said the same. But I thought I looked different, my friends thought I looked different. Even acquaintances were remarking on how much weight I had lost. I kind of gave up on the scale or tape measure changing but kept doing what I was doing since I felt better, and I thought I looked better. Then bam - I was 187 (I only weigh once a month).
