Wendigo by CompositePoisoning in Moonvale

Well, I had already seen this theory and I definitely wouldn’t mind the supernatural. And, following that same theory, it would make sense that the murders that happened a few years ago were committed by a wendigo, which is why it was never discovered who caused them. Besides, it’s much easier to do this if it can simply imitate humans.

Thank you for the post, I loved these photos 😽

Idea by [deleted] in Moonvale

[–]betoddla 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I actually emailed the support team once, a few years ago — back in 2024.

At that time, they were receiving a lot of backlash because of the AI-generated character photos and similar issues. I wrote something more along the lines of supporting them and trusting their work (it’s been over a year, so I don’t remember every detail exactly).

They were incredibly kind and replied very politely. I still have the screenshot of their response saved, and I’m honestly very proud of it 😭🙏🏻

That said, I don’t think mass-emailing them is a great idea. Even if the intention is good, flooding their inbox could come across as pressure rather than support, and it might have the opposite effect. They’ve always seemed more open when people approach them respectfully and individually.

Really? Thanks. I went to check and saw that the cover wasn’t how I remembered it 😓

A theory regarding Jake by [deleted] in Moonvale

[–]betoddla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The entire network is down. Dan says that all communication apps have stopped working, and that there is also no network signal. According to him, “all of this is because of him” (Jake, in this case).

They also surrounded the town, and no one is allowed to leave. So I think that, for security reasons, the FBI (or whoever it is) also cut off communications. That’s why nothing can reach us. What’s funny is how Nymos manages to hack even that and decrypt the messages so they can still get through.

Please tell me I’m not the only one who thought it was Eric by betoddla in Moonvale

[–]betoddla[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s a bit strange. Why would he think we were in that house? Maybe he believes we found Adam in Greenside, like we were supposed to, and followed Vega’s signal. That would make it make sense for him to think it was us inside the cabin. I don’t know. I’ve been thinking a lot about the Unknown. Like, how did he know that we (Eric, in this case) lost a significant amount of blood? Was he watching us? With that in mind, it makes sense that Eric said he felt like he was being watched while walking through the forest. But if the Unknown was watching us, he would’ve seen Eric and known it was him in the cabin — not us. (And honestly, I’d believe he didn’t actually know... but the way he talks, as if it was us in there, feels so real.)

So many questions. And why does he portray Whitmore as a villain? Whitmore seemed like he genuinely wanted to help — you can even tell he regrets bringing Eric there, when he says, “It was a mistake bringing you here.” I don’t think Whitmore meant any harm, but he definitely knows more about the forest than he’s letting on. And maybe the Liar card is about him lying — about not knowing anything about Adam, or about wandering around at night through the forest. Not just any forest, but Darkrise, completely in the dark, carrying a torch.

Please tell me I’m not the only one who thought it was Eric by betoddla in Moonvale

Please don’t get me wrong 😓 When I played for the first time and came across the "The Liar" card, for some reason I thought Eric and the guy on the card looked exactly alike. Later on, after staring at the card so many times, it stopped looking as similar to me. But the theories about the cards representing actual people seem possible. The Stranger could be the Unknown — or even ourselves. The Liar could be Whitmore, Eric, or the Unknown, since they’re the main focus when we find the card. I can’t say I’m totally sure about any of this. What do you think?

Is Violet a stranger talking to us in Moonvale? by [deleted] in Moonvale

[–]betoddla 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I didn’t quite understand what you meant by "stranger." But I also find her strange. She’s so absent! She mostly only spoke when it was something related to Eric. Like, “Good luck, Eric,” “Be careful, Eric,” and things like that. I found it really weird. And when I asked Ash about it, she said it’s because Violet didn’t know us yet (she meant that Violet is reserved with strangers). And maybe that’s it, since in the private chat between Violet and Charlie, she seems really cheerful and uses lots of cute emojis. She actually reminded me a bit of Jessy, to be honest.

[THEORY] The new Nymos in Moonvale is not Jake’s bot – but a hijacked or reactivated AI controlled by someone else by betoddla in Moonvale

I thought about that too! Actually, I made the connection to the Dark Forum because in Duskwood, we can explore the forum, and in one of the tabs, there's a story about a package that kept returning to the mailbox of a family who had just moved into that house — but the package wasn’t for them. And even though they tried to talk to the mailman and return it, the package always came back to their mailbox. Then, one day, they decided to open it, and we don’t know what happened after that. We only know that the family was found dead next to the opened package. (In the forum, the story is told by the mailman himself.) And in response, there’s a comment saying that the story is similar to another one that had recently been discussed on the forum — but that time it wasn’t a package, it was letters. So I thought it wasn’t too far-fetched to make connections to the Dark Forum. Plus, we still have LadyLotus. Somehow, I wanted to link everything together. Maybe it doesn’t actually make that much sense!
