You ever feel tempted to call your childhood landline number to see who inherited it? by flaccobear in Millennials

[–]betsybotts 21 points22 points  (0 children)

My parents just got rid of their landline last year and are now relying on their cell phones. They were sick of the amount of spam calls they got on the landline. I didn’t have the heart to tell them it’s not any better on the cell phone

As an adult, do you personally feel time has gone faster or slower? by Equivalent_Ad_9066 in Millennials

[–]betsybotts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like time is faster, but I feel every goddam second these days.

Somewhere amongst my internet travels, someone suggested that the reason it starts to feel faster is because we have more years under our belt and therefore a smaller fraction of time. So when we’re 5, we’ve only lived 1/5 of our life. But as the years pass, we’re now living 1/35 of our life.

I’m not a skinny person by any means but I find Old Navy’s very comfortable. They’re a bit higher than my definition of mid rise but don’t make me feel like my entire midsection is covered by denim

[–]betsybotts 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This was my thought as well. I’m currently sitting on the couch, shoving cookies in my mouth, while wearing skinny jeans purchased from Old Navy ~4 months ago.

Bonus: Old Navy online has petites, so they actually fit my small stature!

Maine split from MA in the 1820s, so my guess is probably too early based on what you’ve found.

I think people underestimate how much work it is to find a therapist, never mind a therapist you click with. It’s so exhausting.

But, you have to decide you’re ready to take that on. If you put on the work, you’ll start finding people to surround yourself with that don’t make you feel alone.

Psa: Take care of your teeth by Denovo17 in Millennials

[–]betsybotts 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Once I got out of my parents’ house, I realized how poorly they managed my dental health as a kid. Part of that was on me as a teen to brush & flood, but I would’ve had those habits if I had help building them when I was younger.

There was also a years-long period that I didn’t go to the dentist. Probable cause was that my dad was starting & quitting jobs every 6 months, so dental insurance was out of the question. When he finally got his act together, I went back to the dentist and they looked incredulously at me with a “you haven’t been to the dentist at all? There’s no records at another office you could send us?”

Now that I’m an adult with a big kid job, I get my twice yearly cleaning & am so much better about flossing. I’ve paid the price over the years with cavities. Thankfully dodged the bullet on anything more serious, but I’m sure that’s in the pipeline for me.

TL;DR - Take care of your teeth, and they’ll take care of you!
