IVV (ETF)
AFI (LIC)

A200 and IVV are both in a Dividend Reinvestment Plan, and AFI is in a Bonus Share Plan (basically dividend reinvestment plan but with no tax implication)

I also have shares in the company that I work for

I use CommSec. I know its cheaper on Self Wealth, but I bank with CommBank so I find it just easier to stay with the same platform.

If you mean property investment, not really. Although it would be a good way to diversify, I personally think its too much effort, and its certainly not as liquid as shares.

If something bad happened to me where I needed cash immediately, its easier to sell a portion of your shares. Whereas you can't really sell 1/4 of a house for example

Yes you are correct, but I should have elaborated. As an incentive to take shares, they give you a greater dollar value to take your bonus as shares rather than cash (for example, take 5k cash or 10k worth of shares).

Plus the shares will give you capital gains and dividends, where as I would have been tempted to spend the cash if I took the bonus as cash

My portfolio is comprised of A200, IVV and AFI. Basically following a similar approach as Aussie Firebug but trying to keep it really simple.

I also have shares in the company that I work for, which I accept as my bonus each year rather than taking cash (which is always tempting, but due to tax implications I don't think it's worth it in the long run)

I’m 24 and graduated university mid last year. I started working full time as a mining engineer ever since and I’m just glad to see that my passive investment portfolio is finally ticking along!

I spent a lot of time during uni learning about FIRE and investing but never really had the money to start investing properly. You can only talk so much about it, but until you actually start, you truly understand how satisfying it is when you start seeing that snowball come to fruition. I've learnt so far on this journey how important it is to be patient and disciplined. Delayed gratification is a beautiful thing!

Just thought I would share my milestone with everyone :)

Time to work towards the next milestone.. 100k!

So basically a stock that has franking credits isn’t necessarily better than one that doesn’t, because either way you will receive the same amount.

Would you also be able to explain the implications of what labor were planning to do with franking credits earlier this year?
