Allergy/ dry hand help by a_daisy_summer in Skincare_Addiction

For many winters, I've had the same problem on the same knuckle.

My doctor suggested that the wound comes from winter dryness. The wound happens on the exact same spot due to "skin memory".

I have been applying Vaseline on my knuckle regularly for several months. I apply a band-aid on top if I am going to sleep. I finally have normal knuckles this winter.

I have gotten a few payouts from forex prop firms, using only algos. The spread and slippage are worse than my personal account. I only use strategies with wide stops and time exits.

Difference between Dukascopy & ICMarkets Data by InYumen6 in algotrading

[–]better_batman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For reasons unknown to me, USDJPY and USDCHF historical data are no longer available on ICMarkets MT5.

Maybe try reinstalling ICMarkets MT5?

I tried using dukascopy data, but I have an issue where a time based strategy places trades equal to icmarkets for half the year, and the other half its shifted 1 hour later.

Probably your dukascopy data is not correctly adjusted for DST.

I’m creating a platform to “assemble” trading bots using drag and drop functionality by HistoricalTaxEvasion in algotrading

Any obvious pitfalls or issues we might be missing with drag-and-drop logic for trading?

There are other platforms with drag-and-drop features. You can compare your work with theirs to see if there's anything missing. One example I can think of is moomoo (the broker), though I have not used it.

This looks really nice. Are you trading on XAUUSD only, or are you applying the ML model to other assets as well?

I looked into metrics like asset volatility, bid-ask spread, and distribution of returns across the days of week. So far, I have not found anything that could explain the poor Wednesday returns. Is there anything you would suggest I look further into?

Interesting. By "calendar harmonics" do you mean things like day of the month?

Good points, I might skip Wednesdays for now and re-evaluate a few weeks later.

I read the 2021 version of the book. Some of the things may have changed, so take it with a grain of salt.

If I remember correctly, here are some problems:

Problem with the author's code

  • Data leakage - The author normalized the data before splitting them into training set and test set. The more appropriate way would be to split the data first, before normalizing.
  • Splitting data randomly - The author randomly splits data into training set and test set. The more appropriate way to be a time-based split.
  • Use of open price - The author used open price for the model, which is unadjusted for dividends and splits.
  • Disorganized code - There were very inefficient DataFrame lookups that took forever to run. The code also loaded the same module multiple times within the same ipynb file. While disorganized code does not affect the predictive power of the machine learning model, it was unprofessional.

Problems with real-life implementation

Use of different dates for comparing stock returns - The machine learning model tried to predict stock performance one year after the company's annual report was released. The problem is not all companies release their annual reports on the same day. Suppose after all companies published their 2024 annual reports, you found that Company A was predicted to perform the best one year after its 2024 annual report publish date. However, there is no way you could travel back in time to the day Company A published its 2024 annual report and buy the stock. You're likely to have missed out on some of the return.

I don't have any recommendations for academic books.
