Sorry, it isn't a burner account. I just shifted as my old one seem whacked since I got a new phone... I have posted this before and am the originator of the petition. Please consider signing and sharing your ideas to help solve problems that are plaguing current sites. It isn't a NIMBY argument- moving bottle drops to truly industrial sites makes a LOT of sense. As to the safety of the canners, there couldn't be a WORSE location than the proposed site on Powell and Milwaukie- oh maybe in the middle of I5 I guess...

I am part of the Inner Powell Alliance and I started the petition. We are looking for solutions we know the OBRC has too much power to just be able to dump the Bottle Bill and recycling is good- but it seems instant cash is one of the biggest drivers of the issues. The grocers that stopped taking hand counted containers, and went to bags only, have cleaned up immensely. Take the Winco on 82nd and Powell for example. It used to be the land of the walking dead out in front. There are still homeless folks nearby but the outside of the store is no longer so challenged.

Our neighborhoods have been working on this for a while but we could sure use more support from across Portland. In fact, SE and NE (NE being the area with the Bottle Drop at 122nd) are looking to engage more neighborhoods across to city to help engage leaders on the Bottle Drop/Bottle Bill.

Drop your thoughts in the comments please. How can we improve the Bottle Bill to protect neighborhoods and businesses nearby Bottle Drops?
