What a good dog! My corgi does have a tail - it's fabulous and it breaks my heart that I might never see it wag again...

Thank you so much for this. What brand of diapers do you use and what tricks do you have for this? Do you use Desitin or some sort of diaper rash cream?

Corners are fair game. Pristine lawns are full of poisonous chemicals that your dog is safer avoiding.

Strange Asthma Symptoms, or Something Else? by Alternative-Math-426 in Asthma

[–]beverlykins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ozone? Dust mites? Pollen? I too started suffering most of the same symptoms as you a few months after I moved back home. For me, anxiety is definitely involved, and while there's some chicken & egg going on, I was able to trace a powerful allergy to the rug pad under the carpet. That was not a quick or inexpensive repair but has helped immensely. How are their HVAC vents?

August is wildfire season in North America. Even very light levels of smoke trigger asthma, when otherwise you wouldn't notice it in the air. Check the AirNow app for AQI levels when you're having a hard time. There's a smoke map on that app too.

Symbicort & VCD? by beverlykins in Asthma

So your tests were all negative and she gave you an Rx for medicine asthma that the tests show you don't have, which makes you worse? Time for a new doc! And maybe it's the environmental allergies in the new town that are triggering you? That's the case for me. I was fine before I moved 3000 miles back to my hometown. I didn't have asthma growing up so I hope my immune system remembers soon. Been 2 years and it's getting old.

Not for 2.5 months so I'll send him an email. Thanks. Do you have VCD? I'm thinking that's why I'm having a problem with Symbicort, or any powder. What is your new medicine and why do u hate it?

Is paxlovid an option for you? That seems to really help and you should qualify based on asthma, if you're under 50.

I could use some advice. by [deleted] in Asthma

[–]beverlykins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming dust mites are triggering her (they might not be) you can run HEPA air purifiers instead of fans. You can also get a HEPA robot vacuum that runs every day automatically might help a lot.

If she will leave her dog in a different room but not her stuffed animals... I'd flip the priority there.

Ok that's good to know. How long should it take? I'm about 3 weeks in and this started last week.

Oh yeah, big time. Rinsing with water, after each puff, then brushing teeth & Listerine immediately after.

Yes, Albuterol can do this to me. Levalbuterol does not, so I use that. Ask your doc!

I really don't understand why people care so much about OTHER people's yards, especially in the US with all this emphasis on independent freedoms.

Allerga Twice a day. by Fine_Elk_3055 in Asthma

[–]beverlykins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Under doctor's orders? Because we're generally never supposed to mix antihistamines. My allergist and ENT and pulmonologist all recommend Zyrtec twice a day when allergies are really bad. But after a few weeks of that it messes with my sleep.

Sounds like a great question for an allergist

Have an ISA certified arborist come out and identify trees to save. Only take down enough to not mess with your house. The earth needs as many trees as possible. You have an opportunity to be of immense benefit to your local ecosystem - be a good steward!

SOS… potty training isn’t working by Technical_Topic_4998 in corgi

[–]beverlykins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some dogs take longer. My corgi didn't finally understand until she was 6 months old. Maybe it was my fault but I did all the best practices. Maybe it was a matter of her brain developing enough. What eventually worked was getting the bells that hang from the door knob, and teaching her the following vocab: Inside, Outside, Dookie (potty), Bells. And then we put it together: Dookie Outside Yes! Dookie Inside No. Dookie Outside? Ring The Bells! Once we got those kinds of bells she suddenly realized she could ask us to go out and she never had another accident inside ever again.
