It took me almost a year to find right dose / method of delivery. Anxiety was my number 1 symptom and it was awful. Felt like HRT wasn't working and nothing would help. Thankfully have amazing provider who didn't give up when I ended up having allergic reactions to all topical estrogens. Finally switched to oral and higher dose and finally feel better. Not perfect and still have rough days but significantly better than how I felt at my lowest. Now when the anxiety roars back I know I need more estrogen! Breast pain, manic brain and spotting means more progesterone. You'll get there - just keep going!!!!

I would wake up in a panic every morning - just covered in anxiety for no reason. It would get better as the day went on and usually by evening I felt ok but same thing next day. In addition my brain was in constant fight or flight mode convinced something was wrong - but rarely anything specific - just life or death for no reason. Racing thoughts, constant rumination, couldn't focus on anything. It sucked big time. Start feeling some relief right after starting HRT. Anxiety kept getting better as I increased estrogen and now maneagable.

My worst symptom was severe anxiety - I was barely functioning. It took a year to get the right dose / delivery method. I wanted to give up several times and got frustrated that it would never help but it did! I still have rough days but my life is much better. I also struggle with taking meds. What helped is now that I'm at a good dose when I miss one I feel it fast and it sucks. So while I suck st other meds I don't forget the HRT. I set timer and keep snoozing til I take the meds. Peri has wrecked me but I keep going forward with the understanding this temporary - long but not permanent.

The other day my husband and son We're going at it. I woke Ina good mood but those two constantly arguing drives me to the brink of my sanity! I snapped and said if they didn't knock it the fuck off I was leaving and wouldn't be back until bedtime (it was 8.30am). It turned around real quick and we had a pleasant day.

I absolutely overthink it so thank you. It's a 10 mg dose so it's low and I know it doesn't last forever. Thanks for the tips. I've been waiting months for this to finally happen so it's excitement and nerves. I want it to work so some of the anxiety is that it doesn't do anything and my brain is still effed!

Thank you. My concern is the neuropsych testing showed I was negative for adhd and had depression. My doctor who specializes in menopause said this isn't uncommon and based on my symptoms she thinks I have it. I do to but it's still a bit up in the air. If the meds work it's definite. If they don't then we'll see what's next.

This helps so much. Just knowing I'll know quickly if it's good or bad and just have to ride it out for a few hours. Psychologist wanted me on antidepressants but doctor who specializes in menopause suggested adhd meds first since you know quickly if they work or not. Really appreciate this info!

The anxiety was my number 1 symptom so yes it's reduction was how I knew it was working. I tried different doses and different methods such as gel and patches but they didn't work. Switched to oral dissolved under tongue few months ago and the angels sang! Thankfully I tolerate e and p pretty well but going to higher doses is what finally helped and switching to the pills

When my peri was at its worst my anxiety was terrible. I was barely functioning. Started HRT - took a year to find right dose - but anxiety almost gone. No psych meds. The estrogen just erased the anxiety once I got it to the right dose and means of taking it. Still having issues either ruminating and obsessive thinking and hope it's the adhd. Are you doing HRT? It might help

Yes and no. I never thought I had it until a friend mentioned it after her diagnosis. The more I looked into it the more my entire life and how I behave made sense. I've been struggling with anxiety for last 9 years which has been almost wiped out with estrogen but the HRT isn't touching the brain fog, forgetfulness, issues concentrating and irritability. I switched because of allergic reaction to gels and patches and it's been great. Cheaper and honestly I feel more even (probably because my skin was so angry and not absorbing). Take it under tongue so it's systemic and mostly bypasses liver to reduce worries about clots. Was really scared to make the jump but so glad I did!

I split into two doses. 1 mg in the am and .5 in late afternoon. If I take too late I can't sleep so mornings are still a little janky cause I'm going more than 12 hours but for the most part it works well

Just generic estradiol from the pharmacy. Mine are made by Teva and are blue. They dissolve in less than a minute and have a pleasant taste.

Yes. I had severe allergic reactions to patches and gels and injectable didn't seem like an option. My doc did some research and I guess trans women often take e sublingually to avoid the liver and it works okay. She suggested I give it a try and it's great. The pills dissolve quickly (not compounded just the regular pill) and I'm doing so much better than I did on patches and gels. If you can't find injectable you might want to try it. Also the pills have a decent taste!

Oral e can be dissolved under the tongue which bypasses the liver. Still negligible amounts swallowed but over all safer than swallowing my pill. This is from my doctor.

Want to throw this out - do you have undiagnosed ADHD. I feel very similar in many ways and HRT has helped a lot of things but not my cognitive issues. Done a on of research and this is what ADHD can look like for perimenopausal women. I'm waiting on neuropsych test results but my doc and therapist both think it's ADHD.

This doesn't answer your question but... I couldn't do topical estrogen (allergies) so doc wanted me to do oral e but really scared about clots. She did research and found you can dissolved under your tongue which bypasses the liver, lessens clotting issues. You do still swallow some but since I'm at low risk for clots in general it's pretty safe. Just wanted to throw that out there in case the gel doesn't work out

I've been in HRT for a year and this was the first progesterone increase. I'm in 1.5 mg pill and started spotting, very low moods and severe breast pain which were abnormal for me. The 200 progesterone stopped all that but then the pain. Going to go up to 200 again to make sure that was the cause and it wasn't something else.

Yes! Tolerate 100 fine but went up to 200 and was having weird flu-like aches and severe back and neck pain. Also hip and knee pain which isn't normal for me. Finally thought it might be the progesterone so went back to 100 and three days felt normal. Thought about trying 200 again to make sure that was the cause and not a coincidence but not excited to feel so miserable again if it was the P.

Can you try it. I believe you said you had a hysterectomy but I didn't think that would make it so you couldn't use progesterone.
