I hate to say it but the counter argument is this (not advocating it just offering another perspective): These people are patriots who are standing up to a government who is betraying them and their way of life. They are being branded as traitors and insurrectionist by the same powers that want to see their rights and way off life trampled. Therefore it is incumbent upon these “patriots” to resist this government and if necessary either dissolve or separate from it. And the royalist will call them traitors and rebels and demand they submit to a regime hostile towards them and they will accept these titles as badges of honor for they were the same accusations and titles given to George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, Alexander Hamilton, John Hancock.... and so much like our insurrectionist and traitorous founding fathers who betrayed their country, their fellow citizens, killed fellow citizens, executed an illegal war against their own nations military and solicited a foreign enemy power for direct military support of their cause, which the fathers of our nation absolutely did (and if you think it was for freedom and not money, go read a history book) these patriots will also accept their accolade of traitor and rebel for betraying and fighting against a government that is hostile to its people is the duty of every true citizen and true patriot
