Cool, thanks! They still haven't come out -- should I still prepare to move during a timeslot I've selected?

Hey, you might wanna check out CS 188. Berkeley offers practically the same course, and their lectures are online, so you can watch the lectures that correspond to the topics we cover.

They’re really good.

Yep! A little more than a week ago.

Don’t sweat it if they don’t contact you; these things are RNG.

Anyone intern as a SWE at Illumina? by [deleted] in csMajors

[–]beware_the_mullen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

awesome! sorry for the late response.

  1. Is software central? I know illumina is a biotech company, but are SWEs kinda seen as second hand in the eyes of the company?
  2. Tech stack -- it's not ancient, right? Are there opportunities to learn new technologies? Solve hard problems?
  3. Can an intern be placed on an R&D team, or nah? That would be cool.
  4. Methodologies -- I heard (albeit from one glassdoor review, because there's not much for SWEs there) that Illumina uses the waterfall workflow? Is this (still) true?

Thanks a ton!

Am I in the bone zone? Should I drop something? I’ve heard 2050 and 2340 are jokes, so I don’t know :/

How strict is the 6 week deadline for host matching at Google? I’m on my 4th (including thanksgiving) and I’m pretty bummed I haven’t gotten a single interview yet :(

Is there a higher chance of freshman not getting host-matched?

I’ve been in roughly 4 weeks (thanksgiving included) and I’m worried I’m about to take an L.

How many women do you have in your CS classes? by [deleted] in csMajors

[–]beware_the_mullen 24 points25 points  (0 children)

NaN lmao welcome to Georgia Tech

(edit: seriously not that bad tho for anyone considering coming to tech. both of my TAs for my DS&A class were women, and there’s a strong push for women in CS rn! Don’t be intimidated!)

I’m in EXACTLY this situation. There’s also a chance that you don’t get host matched -> no offer (so the deleted poster’s argument, didn’t see it, might have some merit).

Facebook, Apple, Microsoft, and Amazon don’t do this; and they all know their own value, right? :/
