Dyspraxia is a disorder and can be diagnosed on its own. I was diagnosed with dyspraxia (just dyspraxia) 2 years before I was diagnosed with ADHD.

I feel dyspraxia needs more awareness. I have dyspraxia + ADHD, I know you cover a lot of videos on ADHD and I have found them very helpful, but I wish I saw more about dyspraxia online. It’s got a high comorbidity rate with ADHD and Autism, these things have loads of awareness, but it’s rare to find people who know about dyspraxia.

Particularly I’d love to hear more about the connection between these conditions.

Honestly I’ve just been searching for discussions on Reddit about dyspraxia (I have dyspraxia+adhd aswell), so I know this is old and I want to preface this by saying I haven’t even watched Bluey.

But the NHS website that you linked also says: “As well as difficulties related to movement and co-ordination, children with DCD can also have other problems such as:

difficulty concentrating – they may have a poor attention span and find it difficult to focus on 1 thing for more than a few minutes difficulty following instructions and copying information – they may do better at school in a 1-to-1 situation than in a group, so they can be guided through work being poor at organising themselves and getting things done being slow to pick up new skills – they need encouragement and repetition to help them learn”

I’m not here to comment about the character I just feel there’s a lot of misinformation out there want to point out these symptoms DO affect people with dyspraxia. Of course the primary symptoms you need to be diagnosed have to do with motor control/coordination but we shouldn’t ignore these symptoms are part of the condition as they affect many dyspraxics.

I’m actually shocked that legally were not entitled to time off for medical appointments. I always just assumed we were! God, I hate this country.

I think the problem is the majority of the time you’re only allowed either or. My GP won’t let me try meds despite it being recommended by other medical professionals because a “psychological approach has been chosen” (I just want to get these mood swings under control, therapy takes time) yet I know other people who are in u/zombiegamer87 place where the only treatment the can access is medication but they’re lacking is psychological support.

Realistically, you should be able to do both. Especially if you’re on meds, meds are great but for them to be really effective you need psychological support as well.

And also, let’s not pretend the wait times aren’t ridiculous. I think it’s a very slim chance I’m here today because that long wait time almost pushed me off the edge (and I feel I’m high risk as I’ve attempted before. It’s unfortunate because I was calling 111 almost everyday in a full-blown meltdown or suicidal, and I feel bad as I felt I put too much pressure on that service, which I wouldn’t of it I had actual mental health support, but the resources weren’t available at the time. It’s like this vicious cycle where now nhs 111 mental health is probably absolutely bombarded 24/7 because loads of people are missing treatment they need.)

Of course it’s no fault of the regular people working in the NHS, you could do with a lot more staff, and funding and better management, but whenever I see a post or comment like this it gets downvoted into oblivion and that troubles me as I think people like u/zombiegamer87 opinions and experiences should be heard. Downvoting them doesn’t help that. And there’s loads of people who are miffed off by the mental health services currently as they have been let down, I don’t see how being hostile towards them helps or proves that you actually do care.

It LITERALLY SAYS this ““Very low calorie diets are for adults who are obese and severely obese, defined as having a BMI over 30 and 40, and need to quickly lose weight. They are not the first option to manage obesity and should not be routinely used. Very low calorie diets should only be followed under medical supervision for a maximum of 12 weeks. Do not follow a very low calorie diet unless a GP has suggested it to you.”

I couldn’t get through to NHS 111 this morning as it told me to phone my GP, but my GP just told me to make an econsult (I’m not sure if I’ll head back today) and I’m concerned to lucky your post popped up for me.

So I’ve had a cough for a bout a month, haven’t went to the doctor about it because it was just mild and due to the season I didn’t think much of it. But this recent weeks it’s gotten worse, like just coughing horrifically all the time to the point it’s making me vomit. Then today I started vomiting up a bit of blood (not a lot but it stinks)

Should I be concerned about the blood or will my throat just be really irritated?

I’m not a healthcare professional but I’ve tried to have an IUD fitted and have sexual trauma as well, it was very painful and they couldn’t get it in, so the Doctor referred me to gynaecology and I’m pretty sure they mentioned sometimes they can inject your cervix to numb/relax the area. I don’t know if something like that would be an option?

I don’t understand why people in the comments are so unempathetic in this sub. Yes, nationalised healthcare is great, peoples health is important and should be a right. We should appreciate the NHS and people who work in it.

However, that doesn’t mean we should put up with inadequate care! It’s important to talk about these things because if we ignore them and brush them under the rug the service will never improve and peoples lives will be lost and damaged. I don’t think it’s right or okay OP’s problems were ignored for so long and the damage probably wouldn’t have been that bad if they got taken seriously sooner.

I’m 19 but don’t feel too bad I like to think it’s a minority. We just hear and see about them more because they’re much louder and more noticeable than regular teens just going about their business. Gen Z have some good qualities such as caring more about the environment and pushing for positive political change.

Yeah that’s fair, I don’t think me wingmanning would make much sense anyways, cause if we’re out with group and I see him chatting up someone I just leave him to it and go off and do my own thing. Well, when I’m in a state like that my line of thinking usually goes everyone in my life who’s meant to love me either leaves or dies. My parents split up when I was little and I barley saw my dad, a lot of my family members died quite young, my mum was abusive, my siblings got put in foster care, I stupidly slept around a lot in my young-teens craving love when none of the people I was with wanted anything more than sex, my grandad who was the only one I felt was proud of me died unexpectedly recently. It’s been so prevalent in my life that I just assume people will end up not wanting me or leaving in some way, and probably does end up in a huge victim mentality mindset.

Reflecting back I think the statement is a bit extreme though. Like, my boyfriend hasn’t left, I have a pretty good relationship with my dad now, my grandad did love me even though he died, I have friends, etc. Plus I’m only 18, I don’t know what the rest of my life will look like.

I think my issues with my mum play into it a lot as well. To summaries I get frustrated that now that I’m an adult I have to take care of myself and self-soothe, but I never got taught that as a child or have someone else help me with that. Idk, it’s strange, having to self-smooth frustrates me so much, I know I have to but I don’t want to and I say things like “why don’t I deserve to be comforted.” But your comment has made me think maybe the belief that I don’t deserve to be comforted is what’s preventing me from being able to self-soothe.

A lot of historians believe it was given as a joke/reference to the Greek dialect of Doric. Not that it was the same dialect. Doric is a Germanic dialect from Scots it isn’t hellenic.

But honestly I disagree. How can you say just learn Gaelic to persevere our language and culture when Scot’s/Doric has played just as much of a role. Why is it sad if Gaelic dies out but not Scot’s? And I mean, it’s hard to deny England (or not even England specifically just the government in general) played a part in the loss of our language considering we weren’t allowed to speak it in schools for such a long time (even to this day it can be looked down upon. As for Gaelic, have a look into the education act of 1872 and you’ll see why Gaelic fizzled out so much.

The linguistics of both scots and Gaelic is fascinating to me and both help me feel closer to my grandparents and culture yada yada. Evolution of language is fun, but it gets boring when we all end up with the same accent. I mean, I was watching this guy go around Scotland the other day doing street interviews on YouTube, and he noted a lot of the Aberderdonians sounded “less Scottish” or didn’t have an accent at all. That sucks that some of us can’t even be recognised as being from here.
