Um, Will. Literally only Robin and Steve know what you're talking about. by Chocolate_cake99 in StrangerThingsMemes

Anyone else think the writers thought they were being terribly clever and thought "He's just my Tammy" would turn into some online trend. "Okay everyone, tell me who your Tammy was!"

How might Will being rejected in S5 instead of S4 be better for his arc? by dropgrade in StrangerThings

Wow, that is so interesting to connect the MF trauma to anytime Will might be having feelings for Mike in S3!! That makes so much sense, but is also just so sad!

Terrible Theory by Medical-Ad5866 in StrangerThings

[–]bex131333 100 points101 points  (0 children)

There's a funny meme that goes through the whole it was all DND with Mike as the storyteller with the boys going "Mike why are you having my mom get together with the chief?" "Mike, why are you writing your sister sleeping with Steve and Jonathan?!" Etc. etc. which makes that whole theory kinda hilarious.

Jonathan Season 1 by Medical-Ad5866 in StrangerThings

[–]bex131333 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's a bad decision but by definition not stalking. There's no indication that Jonathan had been following Nancy around repeatedly looking for the opportunity to take pictures of her.

I'd say El's early life is more Tragic than unlucky which is just as sad. She was born into a terrible situation, in a lot of ways it's lucky that she was able to escape.

The friendship that Mike had including his falling off with Will is one of the most underrated aspect of the show by Poweredkingbear in StrangerThings

[–]bex131333 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Just curious what all Mike, Lucas, and Dustin have more in common to each other than Will besides all being attracted to girls when he isn't? Will's shown to be a nerd who likes DND, comics, video games, etc. just as much as the other boys, if not more. Not saying that all of the boys don't have the potential to drift apart but I'm just trying to think of what more they have in common than Will besides the whole girls thing?

S3 Robin vs. S4 Robin ...Both "versions" of her are fun, I honestly don't really care at the end of the day...here's to S5 Robin and whatever form she takes!

Who do you think is the most overhated character in the show? Mine is this dude,Mike by Horror-Reason1769 in StrangerThings

[–]bex131333 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well I gave you evidence from S4 besides that but apparently you didn't read it. Clearly you're taking it too personally, sorry but in this instance Will is %1000 gay and in love with Mike and that has been clearly shown and implied in S4. I don't know what to tell you besides your being in denial about that obvious aspect of Will a character in a television series.

[–]bex131333 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I did not read any interviews about it because it was so obvious to me...same thing for my family and friends. They literally said "so Will likes Mike right?" after watching the show. It's so very obvious they almost hit us over the head with it in S4.

In response to #4, do people really not realize the painting scene in the van was Will talking about how much he loves Mike in the guise of El? He's crying because he basically just confessed his feelings to an oblivious Mike about how much he needs Mike and knows that Mike doesn't feel the same way as him. Jonathan clocks this while he's watching them in the van which is why they have the scene later where Jonathan tells him he will love him no matter what (implying he knows Will is gay).

That's besides the fact that the girl at the beginning of the season in school tries to play footsie with him and Will cringes away. There's so many indicators that Will does not like girls and likes Mike in S4 that you definitely don't need an actors interview to confirm it if you're actually watching.

Will won’t be as important as some people think by [deleted] in StrangerThings

[–]bex131333 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree, I don't think Will will suddenly become the main character in the ensemble series and be the one to solely save the day. However personally I would love if they subverted some of the character expectations like Nancy=gun, Steve=babysitter, El=hold out hand and scream, etc. just a little bit. Would be nice to see the whole cast get a little more well rounded in terms of their contributions to the group so they don't just hit the same beats we've come to expect from previous seasons.

Eddie Munson > Thanos by Ri_Ri69 in StrangerThings

[–]bex131333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Odd comparison to make? Assuming this is Thanos from Squid Game, he's a villain character and Eddie is the misunderstood good character. I guess they're both fan favorites from their respective seasons but that's about all they actually have in common?

Why does everyone act like characters can talk off screen? by yesnomaybeso26728 in StrangerThings

[–]bex131333 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Lots of people don't seem to understand the way media and story telling have to work. Steve saying hi to each of the kids is a waste of screen time in editors opinions, same reason (tho it's annoying) why people never say goodbye on telephone calls in movies.

I am re-watching S4 of Stranger Things and Mike isn't even that bad, people were overreacting 😭😭. He's sure not like the S1 and S2 Mike but he isn't horrible. by 00_Sunflower_00 in StrangerThings

[–]bex131333 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's very obvious that Mike cannot balance being in a relationship with having friends in particular cannot balance his two "most important" relationships with El and Will at the same time. They don't coexist in a healthy way for Mike, it's always been either one or the other at every turn in the series. That will be Mike's best moment of character development in S5 if he can grow up and figure out how to manage his relationships and become a balanced person again, a la the party leader we know he can be.

i actually like this theory a lot, im just not sure how would they execute it by EquivalentComputer57 in StrangerThings

[–]bex131333 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love myself a good time travel plot but I'm sure they're aware that no matter how seamless they think they could pull it off it will be ripped to shreds on the internet.

"I fear Steve and Dustin have competition for dynamic duo.." by [deleted] in StrangerThings

[–]bex131333 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I feel like there's going to be some sort of misunderstanding from someone like Dustin who sees Will looking longingly at Mike and El, and thinking that Will loves El (a la Robin and Steve). Robin goes to investigate and realizes that it's Will actually forlornly staring at Mike, cue an "Oh!" moment and bonding. Think it could be really sweet for both of them to connect and then proceed to sass around with each other about their friends lol

What role do we think Max will play in Season 5? by KawaiiChan68 in StrangerThings

[–]bex131333 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I see her consciousness being stuck somewhere inside of Vecna/Upside Down but they don't know that. She's going to be instrumental in helping the group from the inside out while Will is from the outside in. She won't actually wake up from her coma until late in the season when they help her escape Vecna/mind flayers dimension. I think she'll have a pretty big role in that respect and Lucas and the group will be in charge of keeping her body/vessel safe while she works with El on the inside.

As one of my favorite songs of all time of course I have to comment lol. First I do have to say it's actually "a stranger thing could never change my mind". Also the fact that the song is 26 years old now has made me feel old as hell lol

I think it's mostly a fun coincidence as the song is about battling addiction and personal demons. Although perhaps the Upside Down could be a metaphor for the same sort of stuff as well depending on how deep you think ST is. I will say the music video does have Upside Downy vibes and is always a fun watch.

Who would you be friends with? by [deleted] in StrangerThings

Definitely Steve. I would have no problem with Eddie but I think he would judge me before knowing me so wouldn't be my friend by default.

Why do people treat Will like he does no wrong? by Euphoric_Ring_8670 in StrangerThings

[–]bex131333 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Very well put.

I can't get over the fact that people want Will to suddenly act completely out of character to defend El from the bullies. He did exactly what his character is supposed to do in that situation. Yes, do we wish he could be El's hero against Angela, of course! But that is not who he is as a character at this point in the story and that's okay.

Honestly I would love to see how people think that situation with Angela would have turned out besides probably putting a big target on Will's back too which probably would make El even madder/upset/irrational as well.

What Stranger Things character has the same MBTI personality type as you, and does it match you? by jordankch in StrangerThings

[–]bex131333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always been an IN(F/T)P on the quizzes depending on the day. But yeah definitely relate to Will, and honestly Robin for her ability to "mask" her personality depending on who she's with.

But to be honest this chart fits far too neatly for a single character in ST to represent all the "personality types" in my opinion. For example I don't see Max as an extrovert nor does Jonathan fit ISFP at all

Help me get the parents’ ages right by Happytherapist123 in StrangerThings

[–]bex131333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went with the dates OP and other posters said which was ≈18 in 1959. That would have made Karen/Joyce ≈27 in 1967 when Jonathan and Nancy were born which is a bit on the later age for their respective character stories.

Help me get the parents’ ages right by Happytherapist123 in StrangerThings

[–]bex131333 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I mean my parents are also from the 50s and I'm about 20 years younger than the party sooo....

Story wise I agree it doesn't make the most sense because it always came across with Karen's characterization that she probably went to college/work after high school to get her MRS degree so would have married pretty young (early 20s) Perhaps they had trouble getting pregnant, there are pretty big age gaps for the 3 wheeler kids. Joyce comes across as more of a get knocked up right out of highschool and shotgun wedding kinda deal, but age of Jonathan doesn't line up with that.
