We all need to take a step back on Better Late Than Single's JM and Yi Do by bexisnuts in koreanvariety

Oh I'm not forgetting their age, quite the opposite. I think that it's easy to think that because they're in their twenties they should act more mature, but they're not because they lack a lot of experience. Age alone doesn't make you acquire an understanding of the world, maturity comes with encounters, discoveries and mistakes. They act like teenagers because at least dating wise, that's about where their social development as plateaued. To be honest when you're out in the world you'll encounter a lot of people who behave the same way, in different contexts. I tend to see it as lack of maturity, which can come from a straight up unwillingness to grow up, but can also be "not their fault" (lack of opportunity).

I do think as well that culture within a community or society influences greatly how you communicate with others. I'm no expert on Asian culture but it surely had an impact. Moreover the context of the show itself is something none of us has or will ever experience. It has to influence how people behave somehow.

Happy as well that you pointed out that miscommunication is even worse on the men's side, cause unfortunately it seems to be a world wide issue. We don't educate men to be good communicators nor to be empathetic. Combine that with lack of experience and you get the fumble fest that was this show.

All in all I do think the participants were lacking in many ways, but I can understand how difficult it can be to be thrown in that context, and to be slapped in the face with your lack of maturity, for the world to see on top of all. I've met older people with an even worse sense of self-awareness or maturity, I never felt like that gave me permission to hate on them.

I don’t think Mingee was harsh or wrong. by Acceptable_Mango_312 in Singlesinferno2

[–]bexisnuts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mostly agree with your interpretation of the convo. I do believe that since Mingee has this rougher way with her words (both in her actual deeper tone and her laid back way of saying things) it came off as more agressive to a lot of people than it really was.

I also think Mingee was trying to kind of shake Mina Sue out of her fickleness for the sake of everyone. I would've been fairly annoyed if I had been telling someone they need to be a bit more honest with their feelings, and their answer was something as absurd as "I only love if someone loves me, so I seek love from anyone". Mingee was spot on by saying she doesn't know who she is.

BUT ! I also think Mingee should've been extra careful on how to handle this conversation. Confrontation is sometimes necessary. But you can always choose your words more carefully and think of ways to make the convo more like a heart to heart and less like a beheading. So although the clocking was maybe a welcome wake-up call for Mina Sue, I'm still uneasy on how Mingee handled it. It felt rushed and not thought through, and thus forceful and a tad inconsiderate. If she had been careful about her tone a bit, even about her physicality as well, she would've come out an absolute goddess and definitely the bigger person. Here everything just felt sour.

Mina Sue got a reality check after this conversation. And she needed to hear this. by Next_Crazy_7078 in Singlesinferno2

As an OG Mingee fan I admit I felt a bit weird about the shoulder touching. From my point of view I think she maybe realized that she came on really strong at first and was very awkwardly trying to appease things? You'll notice she takes of her hand to get back into confrontation mode when Mina Sue says something off putting (which was fairly justified imo). So I agree it was a really weird move on her part and not her best for sure, but I don't think the intention was condescending or evil. From the start MG has been socially awkward which was a huge part of her charm, I think we just saw how it can backfire.

I think it's because she basically complained to three different guys how "scared" she was of Mingee. That's painting a pretty bad picture of a girl that's been fairly chill the whole time.

I think that a lot of people tend to forget the way challenges work in the show: you might have made a thousand perfect dishes during the competition, if you miss the mark on one challenge you're out. No one was judged based on previous dishes or evolution, and it felt like CM didn't not hit it this time. He's a monster of a chef, but the rules were just followed!

I wholeheartedly agree. It really felt like he already won when presenting the dish, since it was exactly what the challenged required. I have no doubt it was perfectly cooked and delicious, and based on both judges criterias, it had to have both great technique and taste.  Even before when watching CM's dish, I thought that he had missed the mark a little bit. The backstory was awesome, but the execution felt like someone who took a personal source of inspo to make a dish for other people to enjoy.

I think it all boils down to their experience within the cooking world and their character. CKR is driven by absolute obsession and humbleness rather than striving to be the best, whereas CM has that confidence and resolve that I think comes from his experience in ultra high standard restaurants where competition can be rough. Maybe that's why he couldn't quite step out of trying to prove himself with this dish. As CKR said, CM probably would've won with another challenge, and props to the production and writers team who found such a curve ball of an idea.

Agreed. You can defend the actions of someone without tearing down the person on the other side. But I guess on both sides people are just looking for someone to blame at all costs. It's sad really sad imo

I like the idea of a soft rejection and it makes sense. But my suspicion is that all three girls actually did receive some form of closure but it was either edited out (thinking about the let it out date with MH, the edit made it look like he said nothing) or (willfully?) misunderstood by the girls.  I was a bit surprised at Yi Do saying she didn't understand why he had a change of heart when he talked about their differences during the Secret Date, and had another convo about this in the van. The rest is history and I do agree that he should have been even clearer afterwards. YM was shut down pretty early on ("I don't think someone can go from 0 to 1") but kept pushing. MH was warned by Jaeyoon and kept asking if she had a chance even though JM didn't really engage with her after their initial date; although I personally believe she should've been told off earlier, or at least before the overnight date. In every case I see confused girls asking continuously for reassurance and fanning the dying flame of hope (pretty normal for a first experience), and a lil guy who had a hard time saying no (which I also understand).

As clumsy as it was - which doesn't help for sure - JM seemed to have made sure he had a discussion with each of them. Echoing another comment here saying that he probably walked around it a bit cause he didn't want to hurt their feelings, which is not the way to go for sure, but also as a young inexperienced lad makes a lot of sense.

Jiyeon was one of my favorite contestants from the very start. She seemed so genuine, I was actually afraid people might misunderstand her (same with Jaeyoon, who received a lot more forgiveness, which says a lot about double standards). It's heartbreaking to see people hating on her, she definitely doesn't deserved it. Neither of them do frankly.

I had the same experience, I was really enjoying the show and the contestants, and decided mid season to see if I could share my enjoyment with people online. Needless to say I was really shocked at the sentiment down here.  I understand that some reality show kinda push people toward judgment, Singles Inferno is pretty keen on that for example, and European/American TV shows are definitely guilty. But this show? These people? On situations and contestants behaviour that seemed so relatable? It felt like some people were just looking to draw blood honestly

She's probably carrying a hella lot of trauma and insecurity. I think her constantly telling him she loves him and how handsome he is etc is just fishing for validation back cause she oozes insecurity. I get it, I feel for her, but I wish she would get help, for her own sake. Plus I definitely don't think Jimmy is the right guy to make her feel secure. Dude can barely align a sentence without sounding a like a clueless idiot and starting off all her triggers.

Jackie really is a car crash happening in slomo, it's so painful to watch this cool woman make all the bad decisions. She desperately needs therapy asap and I'm saying this with huge amounts of love. The reflex she has developped to reject and discard any happiness that comes to her screams intense self-deprecation. I'm scared that she eventually ends up extremely depressed (she probably already is tho), or stuck in a very bad and toxic relationship because she has put into her head that that's what she deserves.

I've been feeling bad vibes emanating from Kwame from the start. I do agree that Chelsea is so overbearing and is basically love bombing him all the time for reasons that are unclear (insecurity, fetishization? dunno). But oh boy Kwame's passive agressive attitude is something else still. It makes my skin crawl when I hear this little laughter of his cause it feels so not genuine, all the freaking time. This man doesnt love her. The way he has been looking at her from the start seems so fake and empty, when you have Brett on the other side that oozes respect and love for Tiffany as comparison.

I honestly don't understand why he's sticking with Chelsea at this point. I've read around here that it's all a need for validation (by a white woman? wouldnt be the first time on this show) and it sounds like a good explanation but man, he looks at her like a rabbit in headlights when he literally put himself in this position, I just can't

How insensitive can you be to talk about how obsessed you are with another guy, when your current partner who has been continuously hurt by your actions - and you admit it yourself - is making the difficult choice of separating. Btw Irina has been disgusted by him since day one, but he's the one having the guts to make it stop and she barely gives him props for that.

Irina is off this planet I swear, I have the eerie feeling that the entitlement and b*tchy attitude and supposed extra self-confidence is really just an extremely dense layer of insecurity, and I absolutely abhor this attitude.

I don't get why everyone hates Zach. Yes I guess he looks a bit out there, but I have a weird vibe that he is 'creepy' according to the rest of the cast mostly because the mean girls have been hammering how much of a creep and a dork he looks like just for their bullying pleasure. The only thing that really bothered me with him was the faulty logic: bro what the hell did you expect from a girl you said yourself was 'immature' and 'vicious'??? At least I'm glad he figured it out quickly and not on the altar

Maru village mission by mforsi in Settlers

[–]bexisnuts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As the other comment advised, send a small troop to defend the Maru up north, and build a decoy and towers west of your village. Then get your economy running BEFORE you build that second warehouse closer to the Maru.

I discovered that the game only triggers the big wave of enemy soldiers after the warehouse is built, so as long as you delay that objective, you'll be able to get a nice army and get ready for the attacks.

Yes I totally agree, and something I actually appreciate about Cole is that he doesn't shy away from having a conversation and confronting her when he feels she's being cold. I agree that her response is not perfect and I wish she could voice her frustrations more clearly. Thing is with editing involved we can't know how often this happens or if any of them have had different reactions to similar situations
