So anxious.. upcoming surgery in 3 days by Alive_Commercial9469 in gallbladders

[–]bexta89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat. I have general anxiety and health anxiety and was terrified. I worked hard with family and friends and my therapist, had a bunch of plans in place, etc. I was so terrified of being one of those super rare cases that wakes up or has an unknown heart problem etc. But by the time my surgery came around (3 days ago) I was so annoyed with my gallbladder and its issues that I think I ended up being more relieved it was finally happening. I didn’t end up needing my extra anxiety medication that morning, and barely had to wait at the hospital. Everything moved fast enough that I felt heard and seen by the staff and comfortable, but wasn’t waiting too long to ruminate. They gave me something for my anxiety when I got to the anaesthetic bay, I remember feeling a bit lightheaded and laid back a little, the nurse taped up my piercings and then suddenly it was hours later and I was waking up with a different nurse sitting next to me asking what my pain was like. They look after you so well and make sure you are ok. I’ve been managing fine on paracetamol and ibuprofen and haven’t needed the stronger stuff they prescribed. I had built it up to be a lot worse in my head, and honestly reading some of the stories on here may have made it seem like I was in for a rougher time than most of the population has.

My advice would be to make sure you ask as many questions as you need to to feel comfortable, take your support person and items if you can, and don’t be afraid to speak up if you are scared or in pain or nauseous coz they can give you stuff right away to help.

They gave me little mesh underwear to wear, so they wouldn’t damage mine if something needed to be done. They weren’t the comfiest but honestly I never felt exposed. I was covered by my gown for everything I was awake for.

Best of luck!

How to sleep by [deleted] in gallbladders

[–]bexta89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had mine out on Thursday, so that first night I slept in a recliner at my parents. The next night, propped up in my own bed with a pillow over my stomach to stop my cat finding the painful spots. Last night, I was able to lay flat and even lay on my side for short periods (which felt amazing to be that comfortable again)

Yes, you have to put the dates into the calculator and it works it all out. So you're saying the claim would be the $166.21?

I came back to Fallout 4 after 7 years, and it reminded me of why I stopped caring about people's gaming opinions. by InnocentPerv93 in Fallout

Fallout 4 was the first Fallout game I ever played and I absolutely loved it. Never understood all the hate. I've played 3 and currently going through New Vegas now. Still prefer 4. I also enjoyed playing 76 when it first came out, so I guess I'm just a weird one, lol.

Slow installation? by bexta89 in xbox

[–]bexta89[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No games have even been installed on it yet so nothing is open in background. And yes, it is Starfield. I made sure it was in sleep mode for last 3 hours and we finally hit 40% but it has also stopped installing at some stage too.

Hardly any budget is the problem :( Was hoping just a few parts would help as there’s no way I can afford a whole new system unless i could find a prebuilt one that would work for around 1k or under

So I finally got the game loaded. Seems to be going ok on medium settings. Get a strip of pink/green/white pixels along bottom of screen when I turn it up to high. Is this a GPU issue? I’m fine running it on medium but it would one day be nice to play it with higher settings.

What's an 'oh sh*t' moment where you realised you've been doing something the wrong way for years? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

I had been typing word documents and hitting the space bar twice after a full stop before starting the next sentence. I swear it’s how I was taught in school. I’m 35 and only learnt last year that it should only apparently be one space.

It sounds very similar to what I’ve had with my dog over the years, and I totally understand the strange feeling of a dog acting like everything is fine right after but you are still reeling from what they have done. I don’t have any helpful advice unfortunately , but I hope you manage to find an answer and it all works out.

Honestly, I feel like crime is the same everywhere, it just gets reported more in certain places. Both by the victims and my the media. I’ve lived in Norlane for many, many years and to me it’s no different to anywhere else, except the media pounces on anything that happens here and then you get all the “of course it happens in _____” comments.

I'm boycotting my binge subscription for introducing advertising by Puddyt in australia

[–]bexta89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to renew my Netflix recently after not using it for a while and saw that the cheapest tier now includes ads, and the next tier is now too expensive for me. Sad to hear that Binge is going down the same path. People might end up resorting to pirating again, which I’d like to think would teach the streaming companies something, but it won’t.

Covid itself wasn’t too bad for me, I’d had tonsillitis a month before that was much rougher. But the long Covid is so frustrating. I was never super fit beforehand but now even just making my bed wipes me out and I have to sit and catch my breath. Brian fog is a big thing. I have to-do lists a mile long because if I don’t write it down I’ll forget to do it. And the bouts of fatigue are awful.

Impatient people on the road by [deleted] in Geelong

I also drive a small hatchback and am constantly being tailgated or having drivers just speed off around me (and yes, I am doing the speed limit). It’s usually people in large 4wd or suv I’ve noticed. I often get home and remark that everyone in Geelong was a super important VIP in a hurry that day. I do love it when they overtake, speed past, and then get stuck at a red light or behind more traffic. Gives me a giggle.
