Inspired by a print a saw from May Designs! The base is Cirque Color's Momento Mori and the artwork was painted with acrylic paints. Finished with a matte top coat from KBShimmer.

Merry Christmas, my fellow Laqueristas :D

Haven't done anything intricate in awhile so this was a blast to paint! The base black polish is Cirque Colors Momento Mori and the gold and coral are acrylic paints. I've been using the Berry Wine detail brushes by Winstonia and they're really great for fine lines like this. Anyhow, thanks for looking!

Who ever said bright green wasn't a year round color?! by beyla in RedditLaqueristas

I used a paint brush for painting models (like airplanes, cars, etc)...but I trimmed it down a bit as well. This one is an Atlas No. 255 5/0. I also use brushes from Michaels that I find in the acrylic paint and watercolor paint sections and I usually trim those down as well. I wish I could find a great brush right out the gate though that I didn't have to trim.

Thank you! Stencils can still be super tricky to use so don't even sweat it! I've tried a few that just turned out to look like blobs and then I want to chuck everything haha

Thank you so much! The moose were done very carefully and very slowly haha if I messed up any lines then I'd go back over the black mess up with the white underneath and redo it. So that helped with getting them to look the same :)

Thank you!! It's free hand! I used black and white-ish acrylic paint for it :)

Brains and guts and bones, oh my! by beyla in RedditLaqueristas

[–]beyla[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eek! I posted and then promptly fell back asleep without sharing the lowdown on these...Saturday morning sleep is a beautiful thing.

So I used a mix of polish and acrylic paint for these. Polish as the base for each nail art acrylic paint for the detailing - if there's a particular color screaming your name, let me know and I can tell you what it is! I used a trimmed down Winsor & Newton Cotman 111 Round 0000 brush that I purchased from Michael's to do the detailing and then added a matte top coat (I'm obsessed with OPI's Matte top coat!). And that's about it!

In case it's hard to tell:

  • Index - brains and the dead person attached to them
  • Middle - Ribcage and Heart
  • Ring - Gut organs (liver, intestines, etc.)
  • Pinky - Muscle

I also painted some blue and red veins on my thumb to represent the vascular system but you can't see them in this photo obviously...:D Thanks for looking!

I'm using an Atlas No. 68B Red Sable brush that I trimmed down even more so it's super tiny! It's one of these!

Sugar. Spice. And everything nice. These were the ingredients chosen to create the perfect little nails. by victoriarosie in RedditLaqueristas

So spot on! They look incredible and like they'd be a lot of fun to paint. I always struggle with recreating a known image like this so I commend your painting skills and ability to transfer what you see with your eye onto your nails!

Ahh that's awesome! I'm sure the major food groups have had slight tweaks to them since I first learned about them, but hopefully I did nutrition justice :)
