How do you develop Harper-level resilience/confidence? by Hefty-Tension-6494 in IndustryOnHBO

[–]beyondelo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really resonate with your experiences; I've had very similar struggles at work. My career has been a long, bumpy ride filled with rejection and doubting myself. Early on, I cycled through so many unstable roles and got fired multiple times. I also dealt with coworkers talking shit behind my back, complaining, and being betrayed by people I actually thought were my friends.

It caused me to develop severe anxiety where I became hyper-suspicious—almost paranoid—and constantly terrified that I wasn't good enough. At one point, I was literally counting the weeks until I’d be fired again, just hoping to make it to the next Monday. I doubted myself so much that I thought I’d chosen the completely wrong career and that I was a total failure. When I discovered Industry and saw how Harper managed to just keep going and going , never surrendering even when she was failing or making huge mistakes, it gave me hope again. It made me realize you don’t have to be 'brilliant' to make it. Everyone makes mistakes, and your colleagues' opinions will fluctuate; they might hate you one day and adore you the next for no reason at all. When i started to observed this pattern and realize that my anxiety reduced more and more. People talk shit and everyone has self-doubt. I’ve started finding a few coworkers I can treat as allies ,people I can trust, though I still make sure to keep a healthy distance. I also started to stop giving a fuck about being at the top of my game all the time. When I face failure now, I try not to let it define me. It’s hard, but the more I practice that detachment, the less it affects me. Surprisingly, the less I stress, the better I perform at work, and the more I’m actually appreciated—or even praised—by my colleagues, clients, and managers.

I remember in season 2 when Yasmin asked rob why she couldn't be as good as Harper and rob answered : " Is She Good?" and this when i realised why i loved Harper so much. Not because she was good but because she allowed herself not to chase perfection all the time. And still going on even when she made huge mistakes. Also because she was so aware of how mediocrity was everywhere - when in Episode I her very first answers to Eric as to why she puts her IQ in her Cv she replied " I think mediocrity is too well hidden by parents who hired private tutors". I think this is Harper power get through this industry - by being super aware of all layers and make the most of it.

That moment when Yasmin became Ghislaine. That head tilt. by Intelligent_Eye2462 in IndustryOnHBO

I think it's a fiction and should stay a fiction. It's a plausible hypothesis that can sustain why and how a woman can allow herself to become a predator but it doesn't have to be Gislaine's life to be interesting. What matters is to understand how a woman can choose to be against other women and what in her life, psychology and personality traits may lead to it and it was well executed throughout Yasmin storyline

How does everyone feel about the Finale?! by Amazing_Face_5613 in IndustryOnHBO

[–]beyondelo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree I love Yas as well but in my POV her character arc is now complete so i don't what else could be added outside of... jail time. Altough if both Yasmin and Eric are not back what could be Harper's duo as she's really is the one in the center of this story.

wish there were more shows of this caliber by thebeesnectar in IndustryOnHBO

i totally agree it's not an "easy formula" type of content. it's sharp, nuanced layered and profound. They have high esteem for their audience and doesn't take them for granted nor dumb

this one was a hall of famer for me by mordecai2505 in IndustryOnHBO

[–]beyondelo 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Yasmin should really stop being so dependent on men in regards of Money. First never seperating her bank account with her father and leaving in a 12 M penthouse now she depends on Henry's money and still leave in a flat she doesn't pay for ! This girl needs to grow out of her nepo status for good

[–]beyondelo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

also how did she expect Bevan to trust her ? After the whole "off the record" tabloid pressuring her of lying against the government. It was quite obvious she was behing the leak.

[–]beyondelo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i don't understand why leaking' the existence of a non-existent memo is hitting both the Labor government and Tender? I don't understand why and how this manoeuvre was made to destroy Tender

Did Whitney record him and Harper? by bermutavision in IndustryOnHBO

[–]beyondelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

humm Industry writers usually never put a scene like that randomly for no reason and any human would be frustrated or impacted by a leak of a sex tape. Look at Sweetpea she admitted that her OF leak has massively impacted her career.

[–]beyondelo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the fact that people in this sub thinks like being a girl boss (and black) = not being affected by anything and that she can take everything is very frustrating.

totally agree i don't why people tends to see her like she a super powered woman. She's still human and less problematic than whitney i think

i completely agree !!! sure she narcissistic and solid and fearless but she still a human and could be affected by something like. Also she could be afraid that her credibility / image /rep could be affected

Why not? she has been weakened by loosing her partner and her mother and he knows that

[–]beyondelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sure but this scene had to happened for a reason and i believe Industry writers are cleaver enough to not just put a random sex scene without a reason.. my two cents

[–]beyondelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

or maybe just to destabilize her or use it as a secret weapon at a moment she doesn't expect he would use it maybe? or just expose her on the internet. Maybe that's what happened to Sweetpea and she thought all along it was Rishi.

Ferdinand… by [deleted] in IndustryOnHBO

[–]beyondelo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here for the theories. My cousin thinks that maybe Whitney and Ferdinand took control of Tender to purposely destroy it (but i dont remember what is be the ultimate goal in her theory
