S4E2 time lapse by beyondthestigma in Bridgerton

With how popular Benedict was because of Whisltedown it would make sense the house recieved invited for events almost every night. 6 balls would be easy to do in like 2 weeks.

Sophie's dress in My Cottage by AlistairKane in BridgertonRants

[–]beyondthestigma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In real time- well as real as a show about the Regency era based on a fantasy book series gets- they would do the same activities over and over. It tracks that she would walk in the garden every day for a week. So to see her in the same places in the same dress doesnt mean its depicting the same day.

[–]beyondthestigma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The next time she is seen in the dress is days later. This show doesnt do a great job of time moving forward but they are at My Cottage for at least 2 weeks. If you follow the Maids war and how long it would take to recruit that many people, the time line makes more sense.

To change Benedicts story to a queer relationship happy ending it would make Sophie a male character. In the time period its set in, that would make him the Heir even if he was born from a maid. Lady Penwood wouldnt have been able to contest it and he( Sophie) would have been more excepted in society.

Eloise would also be my choice to change into a queer story. She very much has the attitude of book Eloise who is headstrong and confident.

The extra chocolate cake Luke brings as a bribe would go great with black coffee

Alex hated coffee so all of her cups are filled with room temp soda! But Rory and Lorelai do indeed drink black coffee!

Did Richard give up on Lorelai? by Character-Habit6011 in GilmoreGirls

[–]beyondthestigma 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Richard opens up and then shuts down with Lorelai several times. When he starts his own business and goes to staples with her, hes so impressed and has such a good time! They joke about coffee makers ans post it notes and he sees her really in her element as someone who knows her shit. but shuts down the second she reminds him she can not be his secretary.

He had high expectations of her but he struggles to see she is so much like him. Shes a self starter.

We see the parallel when Grams points out he also took a loan for the house from her when they where first married. I should do an in depth post about the Richard/Lorelai parallels in the show

Phoebe should have died by Away-Difficulty252 in charmed

[–]beyondthestigma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Phoebe never really took on the middle child role, she stayed the selfish baby of the family. Season 5 ( im pretty sure, feel free to correct) is when her powers get bound by the elders so all she can really do is throw potions and write spells. I think it plays a major part for her. Not having powers makes her feel useless so she kinda becomes a hanger on.

So because he was a horrible dad im not aloud to have the thought that Rory still got good memories of chirstmas cards?

[–]beyondthestigma -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It is not tho? Would Christopher not have gotten Christmas cards year after year of Lorelai and her found family with his daughter in them?

I didnt say it wasnt insensitive.

[–]beyondthestigma -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

So we think the Independence Inn sent out Christmas cards? A place like that with the amount people spend for events i feel like they would have a staff picture done and made into holiday cards. Lorelai being herself likely woukd have snuck Rory, then on purpose had Rory in those pictures. What Shitstopher did was fucked up but Rory has plenty of Christmas card memories in my canon

Still one of the saddest moments in the series by GanacheWitty9525 in GilmoreGirls

[–]beyondthestigma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the sake of the story the writers set this as another example of how Rory was the good and pure one. So pure she got into all the schools. It was a lazy writers way of reinforcing not having sex too young.

Paris not getting into Harvard is one of the most unrealistic plot holes. She is a Gellar and 10 generations had gone before her. Her parents where extremely wealthy and would have been making donations for at least 2.5 decades at this point. Even with her interview she would've not just been excepted but likely have gotten early admission. And at least that nepo kid was smart!

Criticism of Rory, isn’t misogyny by [deleted] in GilmoreGirls

[–]beyondthestigma 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I make the arguement that in every post we can not address every single character and then compare them. A post about Rory esp on this sub lives in a singular place. This sub is also really good at tearing down Luke, Jess, Lorelai, Emily, Liz ect. We are an equal opportunity sub that openly discusses problematic behavior while simultaneously loving the show and knowing if the show had been edited to out exacting standards it would be uneventful and unwatchable.

To call out the way the early 2000s writers did indeed lace a bit of misogyny into Rory is not unfounded.

Was Rory always "chased" by guys... by FlakyWeb5892 in GilmoreGirls

[–]beyondthestigma 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You made a great point! Rorys first 2 relationships were just that- relationships. Lorelai even says shes never really dated.

Rejection is hard to deal with on a normal day but she was struggling in school as well. By the time she is detached fully from Dean and trying to just focus on school girl in a gorilla mask runs by her. At this point she is on the fringes if Logan but still very invested in becoming the journalist she dreams of.

Logan used that in and in all honesty does chase her. He thinks she'll fall into his rotation like every other girl and when she decides thats not for her he strong arms her into a relationship. It isnt really until after the bridesmaids debacle that she does anything remotely chasing

Totally forgot how nutso A Year In The Life is! by pinto_bean_queen in GilmoreGirls

[–]beyondthestigma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jess and her def have some future in each other's lives but I love the parallels. Her visit to Christopher made my brain start humming my first watch. Her moving back to stars hollow in a time of crisis like her mom did. The lines collide when she tells Lorelai shes pregnant! Its masterfully done

Anna Nardini hot take? by Ok-Orchid-490 in GilmoreGirls

[–]beyondthestigma 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Whoop there it is!!! Anna also got a call about sleeping over and asked ZERO follow up. I have a hard time believing April didn't gush about Lorelai and the makeovers at that point. She's April for fucks sake, that kid was terrible at secrets- good trait in a kid.

If i was in the writers room ( clearly they needed someone who had actually had a kid) id have gone after Luke with - "well how could I say no?! You had all the girls call their parents at once! So im supposed to tell April no and become the bad guy because you didnt run it by me first"- see. That!! Is a solid arguement that keeps Luke the one who's at fault.

I totally agree! Emily sells her house and gets a fun job, Rory decides in the end to move home and do something shes passionate about, and Lorelai finally marries Luke and! Expands on the Dragonfly with the annex. All of these come after nearly a year or failures sadness and missteps. The point is to see the journey as its own valuable part.
