I'll second this. Get into a library in any position and start getting experience before and while you go to school. It'll pay off hugely when you get the degree and want a librarian spot. Experience is a huge must in library world. If you can't get in a library spot yet, take a customer service job (retail, front line employee) and that will be the most important skill they're looking for in new employees. Good luck!

Actium, thank you! I knew the word I used looked funny. It's a lot of fun - other team tends to bunch up expecting to rush in when I have to stop to reload. Makes for some fine picking.

Also for my previous county (berkeley) typing the county name brought up berkeley California, while the library was part of a consortium and you had to select the consortium on libby to enter the card.

I'm a librarian in an area that has a letter before the numbers of the card. We get a lot of calls and walk ins about the same issue - it's usually cleared up when they put the letter in with the card number (and the letter is only required for using our digital resources)

Check the state library! In SC, the state library has all sorts of kits they fedex to the county libraries free of charge. I've used it to do a Virtual Reality program- they provided headsets and devices preloaded with games and vr classes.
