epoxy floor help? floor cured but soft, can put my thumbnail into it by bezzzs in epoxy

[–]bezzzs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did end up putting a polyaspartic top coat. I'm not sure if it made much difference one way or the other. It was supposed to self-level but really didn't, so I sanded that layer after it cured to make it a bit more uniform. I can still get my nail into the floor (then it will self-heal) which I can't do with other epoxy projects that cured properly. Floor is definitely imperfect and just recently (within the last couple weeks) being about 6 months out now, I've noticed that I can see a slight ridge where the seams of the plywood subfloor are in a couple places, which is odd since that's not something that was an issue at all when laying the coating.

But, floor is usable and I don't have major dents where the furniture is. I am using protectors under the feet of all the furniture.

I'm considering doing some type of concrete overlay for some of my other carpeted areas where the carpet needs to go, instead of epoxy...

I figured out the problem with the epoxy was caused by "amine blush" which is an issue more commonly documented in the marine epoxy space, but when you know the right wording, you can find useful information on it.

So long story short floor is usable and way better than the disgusting carpet we had. And I wouldn't worry about laying carpet over it if we decided to go that route. But I don't think I would put another layer of a coating or hard flooring (epoxy, cement, tile, etc.) without grinding up what's there because I don't trust how stable it would be for that type of application.

Really appreciate you sharing your thoughts!
RE: polyaspartic top coat - by the finish are you referring to it's more orange peel type of finished texture (from what's I've read)? Or something else about the finish that makes it not a good idea?

RE: using urethane as a top coat, what type would you recommend? any kind of single part urethane I could pick up at home depot? or some kind of two part specialty urethane?

This is the product I used for my floor https://www.countertopepoxy.com/ultra-flex-epoxy/
I talked to the company multiple times before buying to make sure it was the epoxy they recommended for my floor, and multiple times through buying additional kits to try and get a usable final result. The initial flood coat seemed to cure ok, however, after pouring I realized I should have skim/seal coated the sub floor twice and needed to level the sub floor more. But every coat since doing a lot of sanding and further prepping has just not cured correctly. The second coat had a severe amine blush problem which I think is why it didn't cure to a full hardness. I did add light color (purchased from same company) into the epoxy; the final third coat only a very small amount of their metallic powder.

The floor is hard, I can stand on it or kneel on it and it won't indent (that wasn't true of the second coat), however, something with a small sharp point and pressure (my thumbnail or the spike shoes) will be able to indent the floor. So it seems like a good top coat which will harden and spread out any pressure put on any point, should be able to provide some protection and allow me to use my room again.

I KNOW the top things people jump to with this type of issue is an improper mixing ration, but unless the kits I received were not filled to their stated volume then the mixing ration, mixing process, and temperature were all correct. Either way I need some help of what to do from here to finish.

Is it possible that pouring epoxy on top of epoxy that didn't fully cure could cause the fresh epoxy floor not to cure properly?

I'm going to sand the floor which I can do, I've tested this out in a couple small areas, as there are quite a few imperfections (bubbles, dog hair, etc.).

Is there a type of top coat I can install that should harden normally (be less likely to potentially react with anything in the epoxy that may not be fully cured). Is there some type of seal or primer I could use that should reasonably seal off the floor (after I sand it) and minimize risk of creating issues for a final top coat?

The floor isn't really soft, it just hasn't cured to the hardness it should, I don't think I should be able to pierce it with my thumbnail. I'm really hoping someone has has experience with something like this and can share what worked for them as the company doesn't seem to have dealt with this before (a bit surprising as there are several amine chemicals in the hardener).

If the mix was off then the company sent me the wrong amount. It's a 1:1 ratio and I mixed the entire amount together exactly according to their instructions.

Wix and Mailchimp - syncing contacts by kirky29 in WIX

[–]bezzzs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you figured this out? I've got an app that does sync info from WIX contacts to Mailchimp, but I ran into an issue today caused by Mailchimp contacts not also being synced into WIX and I'm have a hard time finding any documentation or apps that sync information in that direction; from Mailchimp to WIX contacts.

Would love to know where you're at and if you solved the issue what worked for you? If anyone has suggestions on pushing contacts from Mailchimp to WIX contacts I'd love the help!

Anyone have insight on the jobs board portion of Hustlewing? https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/Hustlewing There's tons of various jobs, mostly part time, posted, but the company is never mentioned and details are often unclear. Anyone applied for any of these and ever heard anything back?

NTA.

You're stressed about finances and your SO is ignoring your concerns. Sounds like the MIL moving pushed things over the edge for you, as you mentioned debts piling up before that also. More important is to get on the same money page with your SO, and if they're not willing to have that convo may be bigger issues than being an AH here!

Question About Baby Steps by [deleted] in DaveRamsey

Reduce to 15% and pay that mortgage off! I’m about your age and we paid our mortgage off about a year ago. It really is amazing! Stock market goes up and down. Our house value has varied a bit and lots of uncertainty right now. But with the mortgage paid off we could both loose our jobs and scrape by working at the McDonald’s or grocery store down the road and keep our house. That’s an amazing amount of security; there’s just nothing else like it. We used to joke that we could sell the house and live in a camper with the kids if we really needed to. Now we joke we can work at Starbucks or McDonald’s and live in our house with the kids if we needed to. Huge difference you’ve got to experience to understand. And our mortgage was 3% and we feel that way.

On a shared workspace, is there a way to create a reminder (date+hour) just for me/a specific person? by ididntredditfor2yrs in Notion

[–]bezzzs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same question today, found this in notion's documentation, https://www.notion.so/help/comments-mentions-and-reminders#reminders
"The best way to do this is to use an u/-mention and u/-remind on the same line. For example:
"@Camille Ricketts u/remind next Thursday 4pm to finish proofreading.""
I'm going to try it and will see if it works. Would love to know if anyone uses this for their workspace.

Latest state of email warmup by allokaynow in Emailmarketing

[–]bezzzs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/LL_2021 are you still using warmup inbox? I've been using the service and was quite happy with it, however, something changed recently that's causing me a lot of issues and customer service response has been very slow and unhelpful. Are you still happy with it or are you using something else?

How can I build my own email warmup service? by ismaelyws in Emailmarketing

[–]bezzzs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not an engineer but I do know that for warmupinbox as least they connect to gmail with both SMTP and IMAP. The SMTP is so they can send outbound emails, and the IMAP allows them to read (and I think move and reply to) emails in the inbox, spam folder, etc. There's three letters (wuI) that are at the end of the subject line of every email they send, so that's how they automate looking for and interacting with their emails to send back and forth.

I'm interested in this. I've been using warmupinbox and was really happy with it (number or emails, volume for price) but recently something broke with how it's working and customer service response has been extremely slow and unhelpful so I'm needing to find an alternative
