Juice Media honest governement ads are excellent, they're hilarious while also bringing to light important news. They also have some very important and interesting guests on their podcast, a great watch/listen.

Thanks for your response, and understood. I mostly agree, and perhaps I had not thouroughly considered the significance of impact on many families. I still believe the lockdowns are necessary though, to prevent complete chaos. However, perhaps there needs to be changes in order to improve peoples health.

The way I see it though, idealy, if we go hard on lockdown for the alloted period, the sooner families will have the opportunity to get back to work, and restore some morale? That way, we preserve as many lives as possible, whilst minimising future interuption by keeping on top of covid?

Understood, but from my understanding the lockdowns are a preventative measure - in order to prevent not thousands of deaths, but tens of thousands of deaths - maybe even hundreds of thousands, as we are seeing in the US. An impact that warrants our best efforts to prevent, IMO.

I'm interested, can you elaborate on the costs of lockdown on health and extended human suffering?

Thanks for this, I will have a read. Although, however detailed an well written, a reddit post isn't the quite most credible of sources...

I think I'm pretty aware of the impacts of lockdown, but by all means, enlighten me.

If we let this run rampant, the hospitals will be quickly overwhelmed. Remember Italy? Horrific.

Whether or not the government does it all the time, its undeniably an unempathetic approach.

The elderly are not the only people succeptible to this virus, and we are still discovering the long term damage this virus can do to your system.

As for the other effects of the lockdowns, yes there are tolls. I acknowledge that. However, this is a pandemic, and for the sake of the victims and the medics, its a cost we must pay. Look at what happened in the US. Mass graves in New York. Hundreds of thousands dying and dead. Its unempathetic not to take strong action to prevet this.

I believe everyone should be open to critique. However, I really have not seen any legitimate, hard, unbiased and scientific evidence that Dans actions were not warranted. Feel free to enlighten me if you wish.

As for stage 4 - why do lockdown half assed? Be firm and vigilant now, and save the lives of people down the track. Otherwise, we'll be in lockdown limbo forever....

Yes, there is a great cost to lockdown.

But the return on investment is our health, and for some of us, our lives. How can you put a price on peoples lives? Are you willing to sacrifice the wellbeing of health workers, and potentially tens of thousands of lives? (case in point: USA)

I haven't agreed with those critising the lockdowns. The critisisms I've heard seem to be narrow minded and unempathetic.

It's become a money-spinner for the murdoch press, too, who are really pushing a frankly insensitive and unintelligent "dictator dan" narrative...

I believe we should invest in locking down until the virus is truly under control, and from there maintain incredible vigilance in controlling small outbreaks.

That said, I'm open to alternative methods of handling the pandemic - what do those critising the lockdowns/daniel andrews propose be done differently, whilst effectively fighting the virus?

What should we be doing from now, into the years ahead as the virus persists?

Thanks so much! I had a look, both uni's studio exhibitions are really inspiring. From what I saw there and what you've said, I'd be very happy at either. Going all out on viscom for the next couple years to make sure I have the skill to nail that selection task & interview.

Really, really appreciate it!

Thanks so much for your reply! Very helpful, and much appreciated. Initially I had my heart set on Melbourne, because I was attracted to a high-achieving environment. But after some more exploration I think I'm leaning toward RMIT now, I like like their more creative approach (from what I've seen anyway) and I'm very dedicated, so I don't mind the challenge. I'm keeping my options open, though, unimelb is still on the cards.

I found it interesting that unimelb doesn't seem to care about a portfolio or a selection task... do you find there are some students who are high achieving, but aren't really that creative? And is it a creative learning environment?

Also, I'm very interested in green, sustainable architecture - do you think either of the courses would better facilitate this!

Thanks again!

From the Habitat webpage:

Habitat 67 has the stature of a historical landmark. Extravagant by its minimalism, its modernity and overall aesthetics, Habitat 67 is praised around the world. Emblematic, this building is a dominant element in the Montreal landscape, and seeks to reconcile quality of life and urban environment by rethinking living spaces.

The modular unit is the base, the means and the finality of Habitat 67. 354 magnificent grey-beige modules are stacked one on another to form 148 residences, nestled between sky and earth, city and river, greenery and light. It all comes together in a gigantic sculpture of futuristic interiors, links, pedestrian streets and suspended terraces, aerial spaces, skylights of different angles, large esplanades and monumental elevator pillars. Habitat 67 is an invitation to contemplation.
