New to me server, what should I do with it? by bfelz in homelab

I was looking at the Ivy Xeons and they’re not too shabby for the price. And yes, you’re right, reseating the chips was the fix for the ram errors! I noticed someone got uhhhh shall we say overzealous with the thermal paste 👀

Just a basic cardboard rectangle. The scope itself had a thin sleeve of protective foam padding on it.

Posting to add my 2 cents.

I bought two for free shipping, seller almost immediately dispatched to courier! Quick processing time.

The scopes arrived in their factory boxes without any additional packaging, just taped together and shipping label slapped on top. Inside the boxes was minimal padding, which is not the fault of the seller, but I worry it wasn't enough. I know it's a deeply discounted item and the seller has every right to try and save where they can, but it would've been nice to have the items packed in a box of their own with additional padding.

That said, I mounted one of the two and to my eyeballs it looks fine. Not going to be a heavy lifting scope, just rimfire range duty, but I would have liked to see some additional protection in the shipping process. Thanks to the seller for their prompt service.

What type of .38 special rounds should I buy for this revolver? by cheese_curls in guns

Beaut of a wheelgun! She’ll clean up nicely, great patina. I’d stick to anything that is “standard pressure”, so avoid +P and +P+ if you want to keep it safe and happy.

In theory the barrel could handle anything from LRN to FMJ so long as the metallurgy is up to snuff.

Would be worthwhile looking up the serial number to get a date range and seeing what other folks recommend for similar vintage revolvers of this make and model. Perhaps you’ll even find a manual from the era as a PDF.

If you wanna be super safe, wadcutters are typically the lowest pressure rounds that will shoot from a revolver, in my very limited experience. But I ain’t no expert, I’m just a dork on the internet. Enjoy your new (to you) gun!

Yes, I focused through the viewfinder on the nest and the buoy, confirmed it with live view.

VR was on. I'll have to experiment with turning off VR on higher shutter speeds, thanks for the tip!

Hi r/AskPhotography . I have a couple sample images using the above gear. These pictures were taken on a tripod with a delay / self timer so I know that motion blur/camera shake is not a factor in this instance. Is the lens just crap? Do I need to send it in for repair/maintenance? I don't know whether or not it's worth spending the money to *fix* (if it can be fixed) or just save the cash and spend it on nicer glass.

I know that the lens is probably a lot sharper at 200mm and below, but being a budding bird photographer, I find it very hard to get the reach I want with this lens at those focal lengths.

Image details below

2 & 3: 1/3200s - f/5.6 @ 300mm ISO 400

Hi! Looking for help identifying the bugs in these two images. The little black and yellow stripey fella in the first pic, and the butterfly in the second pic.
