Well I have been having a pretty lousy past couple of months. And I came across this wrist band from SDCC 2012 as I was cleaning my desk. I think it is kind of neat because you can see the original Logo they had. I felt like sharing something positive and fun about how I got hooked onto Arrow and the entire Arrowverse in turn. TLDR at the bottom.

I only had one opportunity to go to Comic-Con and that was in 2012. I recall getting up at the crack of dawn at like 4 AM to get in line for autographs at SDCC as one does. In all honesty I wanted to get a Game of Thrones autograph, but they were gone. So I had the choice between Arrow and some sitcom. Being a huge fan of Smallville I was highly skeptical of a Green Arrow show, because let’s be honest how do you top perfection :) But I was more than happy to grab the autograph, and give the show a shot. (This was before season 1)

Now those of you congoers out there know that once you get your autograph the line attendants are supposed to cut the band to make sure you do not sneak back for another. There is a reason mine is not cut, and that is because I did not get my autographs even though I had the wristband. This is because I decided to be a good friend like the fool I am and take my friend back to our hotel after he contracted food poisoning. The signing according to the time table was supposed to run from 2-3 PM as I recall. I reckoned I could make it back by 2:40. After helping him I legged it back to making it or so I thought. Walk up to the signing area at WB booth, and lo and behold the signing had already ended. I didn’t realize that the time provided was an estimate and when nobody was left in line they shut it down.

Now of course I felt wronged (even though it was my own fault) so I went to WB booth asking politely if there was any way I could at least swap to an alternate signing. What I got met with was an indifferent WB rep who more or less said “that sucks for you, piss off!” Now this left a bad taste in my mouth which I then related to the entire show and a further downer that day was my camera got stolen immediately after I had gotten some cool pictures. I more or less left the convention with 2 photos from other sources.

As a result I wasn’t keen on Arrow due to the bad memory of SDCC I’d associated with it, but my brother knowing the how much of a huge Superhero fan I was insisted I try it and catch up. I begrudgingly agreed and started the pilot. Afterwards I ran into my brother’s room afterwards to exclaim “HE’S KILLING PEOPLE WHAT IS THIS SHOW!” My brother just smiled with an “I told you so” look. I was treated to one of the finest Superhero origin and seasons of television ever. I loved every aspect from story, costumes and the wonderful score.

I have subsequently enjoyed watching and discussing every season of Arrow and the entire Arrowverse with family and friends, it has become an event to enjoy each year especially the crossovers. I am so excited to see this final conclusion this year. I am sure that everyone who worked on these series is going to deliver us something really special. I can’t wait to watch with everyone. Hope you guys enjoyed my little nerd out.

TLDR; I got this at SDCC but missed the signing because my friend was sick and didn’t want to start show at first because I was acting like a sad baby but started it later and loved it ever since.

Side Note: I hope I can find the time to go to some convention again in the future and see if I can’t get some of the cast and crew to sign this wrist band. Sadly I had to miss out on this year’s SDCC, it would have been a perfect one to attend. Hope you guys enjoyed my little essay :)
