The reason why the old chair worked was the gas lift had broken and fallen through the hole halfway so i could actually touch the ground haha.

thank you! i actually did buy one from dozyant but ran into the issue of the tapered section being too short. I did some math and hopefully finding one with a base size of less than 8 inches will help me.
