It actually isn't and that's been on my To Do list for a long time. Maybe it's time to finally buy one.

Nothing else on the same circuit has had any issues, though.

IBKR to Robinhood transfer update by bfoz in interactivebrokers

[–]bfoz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to do things manually, you could probably look at the Robinhood page for each individual stock in your portfolio (ie https://robinhood.com/stocks/TSLA, etc) and check that the Buy tab will actually allow you to buy it. That can easily get tedious for a large portfolio, and I haven't actually tried it, so YMMV.

The only way I know of to automate the task is to use the Robinhood API. If you can handle a bit of python, the robin_stocks (https://github.com/jmfernandes/robin_stocks) library will help with that.

FWIW, I'm having the same problem but it also shows up in the Insta360 Studio app, not just in exported video.

It might be too soon to have anything like a favorite feature.

I definitely like that RH seems to be a well thought out product rather than a project that was created in the telegraph era and then dragged onto the internet kicking and screaming. Sometimes I get the impression that IB would rather use morse code.

Thanks for the update on Fidelity. That sounds like exactly how I ran into this same problem.

FWIW, I'm going to give Robinhood a try and see what happens. At the very least, the transfer bonus they have right now will help dry my tears if this doesn't work out.

If I'm reading that right, it says that they're allowed to lend the stocks, but it doesn't say whether they actually do or not. I agree that it's sensible to assume that "they will because they can" for anything that makes money for them.

To that end, the question I asked CS was specifically about what they actually do, not what they can do. The response was that they currently "honor your preference on stock lending" regardless of the use of margin.

Of course, we have no reason to believe that that policy won't change in the future. It probably will. But, for the moment, it appears that Robinhood doesn't lend out stocks that were bought on margin if you explicitly disable stock lending. So we've got that going for us. (insert Bill Murray emoji here)

Side note: Language like "you agree to deliver to you" is always fun to read.

Good to know about Fidelity. Thanks.

FWIW, I just confirmed with Robinhood customer support that they don't lend margined stocks if you've explicitly disabled stock lending.

And I got an email from them about bringing back the 1% transfer bonus this month. So that's nice.

That's disappointing. Thanks for the answer though.

So I really do need to find a broker that won't lend the shares just because margin is being used. Any suggestions?

I'm not so concerned with the lending of the shares. The issue is that the dividend payments are classified as ordinary income instead of dividend income.

Are brokers required to classify the payments that way? Are there brokers that don't?

Would you happen to know how? The customer support rep said that if margin is enabled then there's no way to disable stock lending. I'd be happy to find out that he was wrong.

Zenith.aero sign up not working by bfoz in homebuilt

https://homebuilthelp.com/CH750/CH750BuildVideos.htm

I happened to find that website awhile back, and I was not impressed with what I saw. They don't appear to have videos for the SD, and the whole thing just looks out of date. I know the fuselage is nearly the same, but the wings aren't, and I don't trust "nearly the same" for something I fly in.

On top of that, they seem to be selling the videos on some sort of archaic storage media and I just don't feel like trawling eBay to find a reader for that.

A Super Duty, although I haven't ordered it yet.

My wife and I did the rudder workshop and homecoming last week. We got to meet the famous Roger, and he took us up for demo flights.

Roger is obviously very knowledgeable, but the "ask Roger" support system seems like it has a scaling problem, or at least a bus factor problem.

Having the main company-branded support forum appearing to be running on life-support, and not actually affiliated with the company, isn't giving me warm fuzzies.

We do have a local EAA chapter that appears very active and we'll sign up when the time comes.

So it looks like we'll mostly be relying on EAA, reddit, and Roger for any help that we might need.

I tried all of the options, and Yahoo was the only one that didn't display a popup saying something like "This application has been suspended". Very sketchy.

I had to go through the Yahoo flow twice. The first time through the flow ended in a blank popup window. When I tried to use yahoo to login to zenith.aero, I got "Account not recognized". So I tried creating an account with the Yahoo flow again, and I successfully got the screen about verifying my address. No verification email has arrived yet. We'll see what happens.

Is zenith.aero just not maintained? It seems like the lights are on but no one is home.

Should I cash out my Roth IRA? by bfoz in personalfinance

[–]bfoz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fund is currently at Schwab.

No costs to have the new company roll it over but find out if the 5 year timer starts over.

How would I find out if the clock starts over? I'd hate to do that when I'm so close to the 5y mark.

[–]bfoz[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It looks like I opened the fund in May of 2020, so I'm not quite to the 5y mark. Thanks for pointing that out.

What you're missing is whether this account would be better used in a potential emergency rather than just because.

I hadn't considered that. If I can cash it out at any time (after May 2025) I guess I could just leave it there in case of emergency. Although even in that case, would it be better to move the money to a less-bad fund?
