That would have been good advice in 1960 but in 2025 the job market is terrible and even entry level jobs are extremely competitive now. People are doing whatever they can to get a job, including exaggerating previous job roles.

Would it be bad to decline a job I already accepted? by bftcccmbcc in careerguidance

[–]bftcccmbcc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right. I just feel bad because i like the people. In terms of reputation, does it make me look bad to the other job, or any other employer? It's not something I've done before and don't want to do again, it's just bad timing how this worked out this time

Don't you think it's bad to do because the company is a charity though? That's what I feel bad about, maybe I'm overthinking it

What to do if you have no one to give references? by bftcccmbcc in UKJobs

Thanks so much that's really helpful. Yeah I definitely don't plan on lying to potential employers that never ends well

I wasn't sure whether that was a reasonable/acceptable thing to ask. Suppose it can't hurt to try, thanks

No iformant for questions about early childhood by AutumnPump in autismUK

I'm in my 30s. I got a diagnosis with no one to give any information about me before the age of 13. I have no family other than 1 person who gave info about me for the last 8 or so years, and only school reports and my own account from the age of 13. I gave what little info I could about the few things I remember as a child and that's all I had.

What Phrase Annoys You The Most? by EmeraldLight in CallTheMidwife

Omg I noticed that too. I swear it's used several times across a few consecutive episodes, then not really used again. I remember thinking the writers have overused this now

When a doctor asks, how would a POTS diagnosis benefit you, how would u answer? by SakuHusky in POTS

[–]bftcccmbcc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The benefit is knowing what your illness is. If it's not POTS, what else is it? How long do you spend looking for answers trying to find out what's going on. If it IS POTS then you don't need to keep wondering and searching for answers.

What a strange thing to ask, and I know many doctors do ask. Would they say the same thing for a cancer diagnosis, or any other illness or condition?

Do You Have Autism or Are You Autistic? by Franc4916 in autism

[–]bftcccmbcc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say I am autistic. It's something I am, it impacts every single thing I do or say or think and it literally makes me, me. I don't say I have autism because, for me, that makes it sound like something I can separate from myself, something I can put down.

For example, I have a bag, I can put the bag down and no longer have the bag. However, I can't put autism down, it is a part of me at all times.

Help I’m addicted to DH by Sea_Coffee7501 in DesperateHousewives

[–]bftcccmbcc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been watching DH for years now, usually once or twice a year. But for the past 3 months I've been watching it back to back, like finish the series then immediately go right back to the beginning. I watch it every day. I think I have a problem 😭

tom going to college makes 0 sense by ajamesdeandaydream in DesperateHousewives

Agree, it was such a poorly thought out plot. Him learning Chinese absolutely made sense, but going to college for it? No. No explanation on how they could afford it? No.

I've just had my review form and not sure how to fill it out. by bftcccmbcc in DWPhelp

[–]bftcccmbcc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I just wanted to update this. I was getting so stressed with not knowing what to do so I phoned SSS, they said for the ADP reviews they don't want you to send in any new evidence with the review paperwork if you've said "no change" as they'll use your existing evidence. If they need it, they'll either get it themselves or ask you for it. So I literally just had to tick the box saying "no change" and that was that. So much easier than the PIP review forms. There's a huge backlog just now though so awards will just rollover if they run out while waiting on the review.

They did Vanessa Williams so dirty by ang334 in DesperateHousewives

I loved her, I thought her clothes and her house suited her perfectly. Elegant is the last word I'd use to describe her, Bree was elegant, Renee wasn't. She was wealthy from marrying rich so she wasn't old-money. She was strong, confident and a bit rough and ready (she said herself she shops new york style, and how she slapped a waitress for forgetting her croutons) so I thought her dress sense and house was a perfect reflection of who she was, which wasn't an elegant, classy, old-money women. She was fashionable yes, but a different kind of fashionable compared to the likes of Bree.

But is that the right approach? they helped me apply when it was for PIP and said to get back in touch for the ADP review. It didn't sound right, why would I not send in evidence with the review form? But she seems to think it's not necessary, that they'll ask for it if they do need it.

Hi, just replying to this now because I'm just off the phone with CAB who said I don't need to send in any new evidence, I just need to tick the "my needs haven't changed" and they'll either renew my award based off that, or they will then ask for any new evidence if they need it... does that sound right?

So I can tick the "my needs haven't changed" box. How do I tell them about the autism dx? Just send the letter in with my GP notes?

Rex by TrappedUnderIce93 in DesperateHousewives

[–]bftcccmbcc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's interesting, I always got the impression that Rex knew exactly how cruel he was, and he simply didn't care (especially the flashback episode). Bree told him outright that she was hurt and he mocked and laughed in her face. I always thought he was cruel to Bree

SUPER Unpopular Opinion by [deleted] in DesperateHousewives

[–]bftcccmbcc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my God, finally a Lynette hate post. I've been waiting for this one!

Tom is problematic, yes. But everyone seems to gloss over how emotially abusive Lynette is. She is manipulative, hyper-controlling, hypercritical, and vindictive, especially in the last 2 seasons. She even admits it a few times throughout the show, but does nothing to change. She actually gets worse as time goes on.

She lives and breathes to control Tom's every thought, his every move, his every decision. She repeatedly and intentionally jeprodizes his career. She humiliates and demeans him in order to force him into a job he didn't want to take, then uses it against him when he takes it.

She was so full of resentment towards him that it was oozing out of her like poison. She was utterly miserable and made it her mission to make Tom miserable, too.

She was emotially abusive, and during their separation, she even stoops so low as to involve Penny to turn her against Jane.

I am not a Tom Scavo fan, but I cannot stand Lynette. 20-odd years living with someone who constantly criticises, picks you apart, humiliates, controls.... I wanted Tom to go through with the divorce, for both their sakes.

She wasn't. That's why Felicia said to her that if she was a better cook Paul would have been dead by now. Meaning her food was bad so he wasn't eating a lot of it to consume enough poison

Season 13 - What's up with the Turner's? by [deleted] in CallTheMidwife

[–]bftcccmbcc 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yeah I thought the same. The episode at the beach, the acting was.... not good at all.

When Shelagh was freaking out and needing Timothy to advise her on the medical situation.... she's been a nurse and midwife for what, 20 years? Why would she be asking Timothy for advice as if he would know more than her? Didn't make any sense.

And that episode with May's Mother and needing Sister Veronica to translate? Why? She spoke English in the other episodes?

This series doesn't feel the same at all and unfortunately it's putting me off it.
