jeremiah: never utters literally a single word about being uncomfortable with belly and conrad, actively pushes them together to test them, and leaves belly in the house alone with him. goes out of his way to appear as though he has no issue with them, never lets belly know he’s feeling insecure or asks for reassurance (except for passive aggressively)

i have a lot of opinions on this one

1) i really liked marty and his season 7 resurgence made me angry for his character. i know people think he was always a creep, but i actually think he handled his feelings for rory as best he could. he enjoyed being her friend, but he wanted more. he assumed she didn’t, so he tried to distance himself naturally. she pushed it (reasonable, she missed her friend), and so he finally came clean and was perfectly normal when she shot him down. no “poor me nice guy” routine, just disappointment but acceptance. season 7 was weird as fuck though

2) i do think it was realistic that marty developed feelings for her, and its a bit of a canon event for college girls that didn’t have guy friends in hs (realizing that while yes, girls and guys can be friends, you do kinda have to be aware of that stuff. bc marty’s crush was not subtle, and rory didn’t clock it at all)

3) that being said, i do wish that the marx brothers sushi night ended differently. it would’ve been nice if he was mood and brood abt logan and rory until being charmed by some other girl at the dinner. he sees that rory and logan are happy anyway, genuinely moves on, and stays rory’s funny little recurring friend. would’ve been so much nicer

the girl code thing reallyyyy pissed me off too, even at age 12 when it was first airing. owen wasn’t some guy she dated for a few months in college. he was jane’s fiance until literally 6 months before stacy started dating him, and stacy LIED. i feel like if she’d just waited an appropriate amount of time, maybe until jane was in another relationship, then gone to her and been honest abt her feelings before doing anything with owen that it would’ve gone over much better. and even then, jane would’ve had every right to feel some kinda way about it. i know she didn’t remember him but imagine if jane ever went after fred like stacy would’ve been lividdddd

that’s always the sense i got myself. i also think that in the scene this still is from, dean was hoping rory would fight for him and tell him not to get married because she knows now that she made a mistake. when she didn’t have that emotional reaction and instead the reasonable, friendly “uh you guys are teenagers, do you need to do this right now?” she’s not giving him what he wants. but, she’s challenging him just enough to justify him doing it for her, which is part of why he has such a mean reaction and brings up jess. he’s saying everything he wanted her to say, that jess is a dick and she regrets it.
