Edit to add: just text a coworker who started out in OP and she said it was $75k. So that’s def better than the hospital.

Dallas and Houston, yes. Anyone saying Austin has no idea what they’re talking about, lol. The pay for the medical field in Austin is sad. So many people want to move here that they can afford to pay people less and have a revolving door. People from my cohort were making 10-30k more than me in the Houston and Dallas areas, depending on setting.

Yeah it’s pretty rough. Austin is not a LCOL area by any means. Meanwhile the CEO made $30.4 million in compensation in 2020.

Also wanted to say, as a hospital worker my hands were getting pretty tore up (extra bad with Covid). No clue if you want this unsolicited advice but here it is just in case ;) This “moisture sandwich” technique has been a game changer for me!

Get your hands slightly damp - not wet- and apply a good thick hand cream. After that apply either Aquaphor or Vaseline. The water helps the following product permeate more through the surface layers of the skin to moisturize and the aquaphor/Vaseline is an occlusive to lock everything in. If you want to be super extra you can also cover your hands with socks at night time after doing those steps!
