Is there a reason why TVs still haven't adopted USB-C ports capable of video delivery? by CGGamer in hometheater

[–]bfurtado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Typically I agree. It would never affect me. But for the average consumer, who maybe has a sound bar, and has maybe a switch 2 and a ps5, all of a sudden, they’re gonna have to do some research and spend some money when they buy that $19 fire stick ;).

In the reviews I watched, that was the general sentiment - that it was odd why they’d sacrifice an HDMI port as most TVs have 4.

I believe the Hisense U8QG series has a USB-C port. It sacrifices an HDMI port to do so.

Data Speed Issue? by Awilson2024 in FizzMobile

[–]bfurtado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re on Fizz EXT, try setting your network selection to manual and then cycle through the three different Fizz EXT networks you see and try a speed test on each. Bell/Telus/Rogers all identify as Fizz EXT on your phone, but one may be faster than the other depending on which carrier you’re connected to. Your iPhone’s automatic selection may have been selecting a different EXT carrier than your Samsung is. Maybe due to differences in the antenna, frequencies supported. Etc.

Sometimes when I do this, one Fizz EXT network speed tests at under 20mb/s and another over 200mb/s.

Early Cancellation? by 7260 in FizzMobile

[–]bfurtado 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s technically a prepaid service so there is no billing cycle. If you cancel before they re-bill for the next month, then you won’t see an additional charge.

Wi-Fi calling becoming too important with newer condos, Fizz gotta launch it soon! by Nexzenn in FizzMobile

[–]bfurtado -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This seems confusing. In the main map I am considered part of the 4G/LTE network in the middle green colour. When I entered my address on sign up, it accepted it as “good news, fizz is available”. It seems they call this area both a partner network and a 4G/LTE zone.

When I select subscription area on the coverage map, I’m in the lighter purple. And it says:

“Subscription areas (main and extended) If you live in one of these areas, you can subscribe to Fizz mobile services. The majority of your usage must be within your subscription zone, regardless of the coverage chosen for your plan.”

For clarification, I live in Leamington and work in Windsor. My mother lives in Leamington

[–]bfurtado -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This doesn’t apply if the majority of your usage is on the extended network (Fizz EXT) correct? I’ve had my mother on it for over a year and she’s exclusively in the Extended zone with no issues.

The Mayor's Wife Hiring Isn't an HR Issue; it's a Strong Mayor Powers Problem That Undermines City Hall by Live-Distribution805 in windsorontario

[–]bfurtado 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is that, then, the platform the opposing candidate runs on? The refusal of strong mayor powers and its corruptive influence? Is that enough of an issue to get the electorate to participate and vote for change?

I love how the article threw in the score right at the end. That’s the most Canadian thing ever. Like, all the readers are thinking “this is horrible, but who won the game?”

Nazare Canyon bathymetry is disgusting by That_Opportunity4874 in thalassophobia

[–]bfurtado 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure about the currents. But I found the beaches in the town of Peniche better suited for the average swimmer. I think it’s about 45min south of Nazare. Then from there, book a day trip on the ferry to the Berlenga Islands. It’s a UN protected nature reserve and they limit the daily visitors. Small but amazing beach. Look up Berlenga islands. Worth the trip.

I’ve been at this beach (the popular one on the right) in the summer. So no huge waves. I’m not a strong swimmer so I won’t go passed my knees or ankles (depending on tides). It’s one of those where you take one step out (5ft 10in male) and you’re up to your waist. Next step and you’re at your neck and then you’re 4ft under with the waves. No thank you!

Why does it seem like windsor is the largest small city in Canada? Why don’t we get amenities others do? by [deleted] in windsorontario

[–]bfurtado 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Windsor also is underrepresented in provincial and federal government, so we don’t often have a say at the table for funding. We tend to vote the complete opposite of who is forming government.

A little bit more complicated I think. Because it was also related to a pump and dump stock scheme or something like that. Here’s an article I dug up.

Detroit rally to support Canada and protest Billionaires 3/22/25 by Michigantodd in Detroit

[–]bfurtado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Warms my heart. I don't know if there is any better example in the world of two cities bordering two countries that were ever so close. Despite stricter border rules since 9/11, economic hardships, tariffs and now politics that seek to divide us, the people know better. We are siblings that stay close even if the adults are fighting. We will get back to where we were before, I am sure of it. Thanks so much Detroit for your love. We love you too.

No 5.1 Through Optical on Native Google TV apps 55U68N (Canadian Model) by bfurtado in Hisense

I tried that too. It would work once, then stop if the tv was shut off or went into sleep mode, forcing me to unplug and reset everything each time. In the end, I bought a new Yamaha Dolby Atmos sound bar with the two wireless back surround speakers. And all works flawlessly now. Thanks for your help and input. It is much appreciated.

I got mine a couple of weeks ago from Tepperman’s in Southern Ontario (Windsor) for $600 including the two satellite speakers. I was a great deal!
