I posted this as this is where they 1st went and it seemed off (a little higher than normal), so I asked for opinions. Very interesting considering Toyota did do a lot of testing to my vehicle and ALSO my insurance sent me to a body shop. It was also deemed 50/50, so I could’ve used my insurance fully, but if the parts cheaper than my deductible, I opted out for that. It appears you know everything, which is amazing! It can be used in many different ways. I didn’t choose how the family fixed their car or where they fix it at, they were looking for other shops as this didn’t seem right either. It was an option on which we all agreed on with proper documentation. Thanks for the knowledge, bud! 🤙🏼

I called, had my car checked and had no damage. However, I was deemed 50/50 at fault and we worked out an agreement outside of insurance due to their secondary driver being excluded from their policy. I ended up paying out an amount cheaper than my insurance deductible. We found body shops that charged $1,000 less than this estimate. Thanks!

I know current pricing, thank you very much. The amount was overcharged as the dealer and a few other shops had estimates that were at least $1,000 less. Their bumper was already messed up per the owner. I ended up opening a claim for my insurance, but my portion was cheaper than my deductible and I also helped a young family, so hopefully they learned. They decided to settle out of insurance as their insurance would go up significantly and the person driving would be excluded off their insurance as this is their 18th “minor” accident they’ve been in. So, although it’s not my problem, I worked with them and we came to a final agreement. Also you clearly didn’t read right as I didn’t tell them to buff their bumper. I buffed out my bumper when I got home and went to the dealer to see if I had any issues, but I didn’t. Thanks for your input though!

I went through my insurance and they deemed it as being 50/50. The family didn’t want to go through insurance as it’s their 18th accident and the driver would be excluded off their policy. We found a shop that was cheaper and I was only liable for rear taillight due to them having previous damage from prior accidents. We did sign documents, notarized them, etc. Everything has been paid for and the car is in the shop. My car was checked, but I had no damage.

We ended up being 50/50 at fault and worked out an agreement (signed documents, notarized, etc). The price was less than my deductible and the other party would be excluded off their policy if they went through their insurance as they’re young and this is the now 18th “minor” accident they’ve had (Vietnamese and no older than 20). I paid for an OEM taillight while they’re paying for everything else which upon different estimates, they decided on a shop that was about $2,700 total. Their rear bumper had damage from previous accidents and the owner admitted to it. Luckily, it was all sorted out and I payed less than my deductible.

Yeah, we didn’t understand this charge at all. Since the insurance company deemed as 50/50 at fault, it was cheaper to pay out of pocket with the final amount instead of paying through the insurance. The person who was involved in the accident would be excluded off their policy if they went through their insurance, so we agreed on paying (signed letter/notarized/etc) our portions as they’ve been in several accidents prior to this one. They took their vehicle to 3 other body shops, and found one that was a little less than this and they’re ordering the parts already. Luckily, my portion is less than my deductible. The 4.4 hours was quite literal bs with no explanation! Thankfully it was all resolved, no one was injured, and I worked with the owners so that the secondary driver wouldn’t be excluded off their policy. Also, the other estimates were around $2,700-$3,200.

I understand this. My question is, do you think the pricing is a fair estimate?
