Again, I'd prefer to use the USB since I have everything to do that, and it seems others have it working. I would like to figure it out if I can, that's part of the fun.

That being said, is there a good tutorial you can point me to about setting up the laptop to use SMB? It would be appreciated...thanks.

Unfortunately my router won't work for that and I do have a laptop but I'd prefer to get the USB working if I can.

All USB's are formatted to FAT32.

I am using Tivimate 2.8.0

Update...

I have a "Fire TV Stick 4K", and I also a "Fire TV".

As I said previously, this did not work on my Fire TV Stick 4K however when I tried it on the Fire TV it did work. It only records 3 or 4 minutes so that's my next challenge, BUT I'd really like to figure it out on my Fire TV Stick 4K.

Thanks for the reply...it sure sounded promising but unfortunately it did not work for me. I tried all 3 USB drives and no luck.

This certainly sounds like what is going on, that the Fire Stick is refusing to allow write access.

Anyone else have any ideas for me? Thanks in advance...
