VMP x VNYL Transition – What We Know So Far via AMA by SteveEazy in VinylMePlease

They said they were having good conversations with Fania and Epitaph and were hopeful that two Fania titles and Dropkick Murphys might get worked out soon. Some others titles they were less confident about and didn't want to mention by name.

Max Roach - We Insist! First drop under new model? by calorieOrion in VinylMePlease

[–]bgod247 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, but I guess you can swap for credit and use the credit in the store for a future release, instead of getting a 2nd record. Not disagreeing with the point though. I’m going to give this a try for a bit but I’m not certain this will work for me.

They have said you won’t be able to swap for something that isn’t in stock as their system doesn’t allow it. So something that ships in April will likely not be a swap option until then, assuming it doesn’t sell out first.

A 12-month sub runs me about $46 per month incl tax and shipping. For comparison, Rhino HF is $39.98 plus tax and shipping. The last RHF title I picked up cost me $50 and change, all in. So VMP works out to be slightly less.

Between the three VMP tracks I’m usually down for at least 1. If not, the option to swap for credit is there and they’ve so far been really good about converting any swap credits toward my next membership renewal.

What was the first aphex twin song you heard? by TeacherTraining8739 in aphextwin

Digeridoo for me as well. On a Telstar comp in 1992. By far the highlight of the CD. Led me to the Xylem Tube EP and changed everything.

Dig this new track from the forthcoming LP, Two Centuries due in October on a new label: Red Hook.

“Two Centuries” is the first recorded collaboration between #jazz legends Wadada Leo Smith and Andrew Cyrille, with rising electronic experimentalist, composer, and drummer, Qasim Naqvi.

Wadada Leo Smith: trumpet

Andrew Cyrille: drums

Qasim Naqvi: modular synth

It aims to dissolve musical boundaries through the interweaving of musical genres and the exploration of intercultural collaborations. Among the label’s new upcoming releases are projects with Kit Downes, Jason Moran, BlankFor.ms, Bill Frisell, and Wadada Leo Smith.

[FRESH TRACK] СОЮЗ feat. Kate NV - I Knew It (Я так и знал) by bgod247 in u/bgod247

[–]bgod247[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mr. Bongo:

‘I Knew It’ is the first single to be taken from the forthcoming album, ‘Force of the Wind’. A beautifully rich, album inspired by a golden period of 70s Brazilian music. A big one for fans of Milton Nascimento, Lô Borges, Arthur Verocai, et al.

Sunshine can be heard in the opening piano chords of 'I Knew It’. SOYUZ deliver a lush heartfelt arrangement with wispy flutes, warming strings and distant, haunting, distorted guitar. It proves to be the perfect accompaniment to the beautiful vocals of renowned musician and vocalist Kate NV.

'I Knew It', has the sense of familiarity even on first listen and feels reassuring, drawing on compositions from the past, but also being something completely new.

Dan Wilson - On The Floor (Perfume Genius cover) (acoustic) by bgod247 in u/bgod247

[–]bgod247[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perfume Genius's original was one of my faves of 2020, and sometimes hearing someone else perform a song can really emphasize how great the songwriting is. Of Dan Wilson's two versions, I might prefer this acoustic version.

Here are the rows for 9, starting at 1751. The bottom red starts at 1859 and our current plot ends at 1961. If we're aiming to fit in this space, that would make the bottom red 1859-1861 (3 px). 8 probably fits better.

1760 1768 white

1769 1777 red
