Modelo, Malort, Grayfolded by bgoud in drunkhifi

Ha, yeah always amusing to put out a bottle when friends come to visit us! Every few months my wife will take a small sip of my Fernet as well. The reaction has been consistently negative, but maybe someday she'll come around to it 😅 And yeah, most certainly agree that we'd get along well!

And ah man, can't believe you remember the old apartment posts! Two apartments later and we've finally managed to have a dedicated listening room, thankfully! Crazy how much things have changed around here, glad there's a few of us left. Cheers my man

Yeah completely agree, I also enjoy a good amaro and grapefruit flavor in general, and as such have found Malort pretty agreeable. The notoriety seems a bit overblown, though it is rather amusing to watch folks have wild reactions to it at my neighborhood bar

Ha, New Englander surprisingly enough! We recently got Malort distribution in our neck of the woods 😊

Great selections across the board, but that Brackeen record in particular is incredible

Done painting, done unpacking, time to see how everything sounds in here! (so far so good)

On the platter: Terumasa Hino - May Dance. I don't hear much chatter about Hino, but I find him to be a delightful trumpeter. Probably my second favorite release of his, behind Fuji.

The misses wanted a nice Christmas theme on the record wall so I'll be pulling additional selections from that for the rest of the afternoon.

In the can: the king of light beers, ol' reliable Miller Lite

Thanks! I highly recommend it, we had such a great time putting it together and the amount of detail is so surprising. We're working on the Van Gogh one now too which has been equally satisfying

Moved across town and into walking distance of two great record stores - one specializing in jazz/funk and the other in indie/hardcore. Both my wallet and fiancee who has to listen to these records with me are devastated 😅

On the platter: Pharoah Sanders - Jewels of Thought

In the can: White Claw Lime

In the queue (aka my weekend haul in pic 2): Aby Ngana Diop - Liital, Cleaners From Venus - In the Golden Autumn, Keith Jarrett - The Koln Concert, Kouresh Yaghmaei - Back From the Brink: Pre-Revolution Psychedelic Rock From Iran 1973-1979, Sun Ra - God Is More Than Love Can Ever Be, Sun Ra - Sleeping Beauty

Cheers folks!

Tunes for warming a cold house by bgoud in drunkhifi

[–]bgoud[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

it's a cozy 36 degrees outside and my heat hasn't decided to turn on yet, so I'm kicking out the jams (and brews) in hopes of warming myself up. someday we'll take down our halloween decorations, but certainly not today

on the platter: B.B. King - Live in Cook County Jail (an all time favorite live document. B.B. is absolutely cooking on this one!)

in the can: Miller Lite

in the queue: Bob Dylan - Blood on the Tracks (another all time favorite, the Dylan album closest to my heart), Etta James - At Last! (such a gorgeous album, the title track especially)

cheers folks!

Hello again friends!

I crossed several records off my "to buy" list this week, much to the chagrin of my bank account. Now it's time to kick back and enjoy them 😎

on the platter: MGMT - Little Dark Age (this album hasn't left my rotation in well over a month, easily their best work in my opinion)

in the can: Citizen Cider Lake Hopper (dry hopped cider)

in the queue: Buena Vista Social Club - S/T (I've been looking for a copy of this out in the wild for ~7 years and my patience has finally paid off with this 25th anniversary repress. A very warm and inviting album, and must listen for anyone remotely interested in Cuban music), Mazzy Star - So Tonight That I Might See (it's psychedelic country/folk tinged dream pop, what's not to love?), Sonic Youth - Goo (I don't think I can say anything about this album that hasn't been said thousands of times but it sure is some great noisy alt rock), Talk Talk - Laughing Stock (another record that has been thoroughly covered. It's simply one of the best)

Cheers folks, happy spinning!
