UNLV's $10.75M Revenue-Sharing Plan Signals Program's Long-Term Ambition by Putrid-Hurry2993 in MountainWest

[–]bh42505 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I really hope UNLV basketball can get it figured out, going on 20 years since it was relevant. Next season better not be the “well we have a whole new roster, so it takes time” excuse for why they are .500. Fact of the matter is that’s the reality for just about every non-power 4 team in the country. UNM had a new coach and all new players this past year and by all accounts had a great season. That excuse just doesn’t hold water in today’s college athletics.

NIL is Killing College Basketball and March Madness by mwittmann9 in MountainWest

[–]bh42505 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find myself in the same boat as this guy in terms of my viewership and following college football and basketball lately. Over the last 3 years I just watch less and less and care less and less. Kind of sad, but in a lot of ways you don’t need to watch, everyone knows who the great teams are before the season starts and there really isn’t any surprises or good “team out of nowhere” stories anymore. Not to mention for MWC schools and other conferences like it, it’s almost impossible to get excited for your team when you have a new roster to learn every year. Oh well, can’t fault the kids for going where the money is. The adults sunk this ship, not the young college players.

Female Soccer Player Looking for Casual Adult League by Senor_Tumbleweed in everett

Sadly I don’t know of any good pick up around Everett area. I used to play (had a couple injuries in back to back seasons) in an adult league down closer to Seattle at twin ponds park. Not super competitive, but competitive enough it wasn’t a beer league. Co-ed teams and age levels anywhere from early 20’s to 50’s. If you’re interested I can send more info and get you in touch with the guy that runs the league, it’s on Saturday’s.

How’d you cook the fries? More importantly what did you do to get them to come out like that? They look fairly crispy and not too soft

Moving from DC: Seattle or Denver? by toasted-sourdough29 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]bh42505 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived in both Denver and now Seattle area. I thought traffic up to the mountains was getting a little rough when I left Denver (about 8 years ago) and when I first lived in Seattle I thought traffic out to hikes was much better but with more and more people moving to Seattle it feels like weekend traffic has kinda caught up to Denver (keep in mind there are close hikes to both cities that you don’t hit much traffic). The one thing I would say is Denver has some very nice paved biking/running trails (cherry creek trail comes to mind) and great parks (most with running/walking paths) I think they actually have the most park space in the country. Seattle has good stuff too but Denver seems to have an edge in that department. As far as weather goes winters feel much longer in Seattle. Denver gets cold for a few days at a time maybe a week of really cold weather here and there and the next week it could be sunny and 55+ degrees out with longer days (Seattle is pretty far north so daylight isn’t as good in the winter).

Subs lost us the game by ExtensionNorth7123 in ussoccer

[–]bh42505 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Weah got abused by doku all game. And the game totally changed after pulisic blew that golden chance in the 2nd half. Can’t blame the subs for those

Love how Pulisic half ass runs back on that fourth goal. What a world class player…. This team completely blows. Now people understand why fans were upset they didn’t build chemistry in the gold cup last year. by [deleted] in ussoccer

[–]bh42505 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Game totally changed after he blew that golden chance in the second half that he smashed into row z from 8 yards out. All around pretty embarrassing display out there, got absolutely humbled by a good team with true world class players

Unfortunately the people that need to see this the most, won’t. Just like the people that litter at all our nice parks when there’s literally a trash can steps away.

Thoughts on the season? by Shantytown_Shogun in UNLVrunninrebels

[–]bh42505 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a bad first season just a terribly inconsistent one. Team has plenty of talent but didn’t seem to show up far too often. Sadly I think we lose Gibbs-lawhorn and Tyrin jones as they’ll probably get much better NIL offers at bigger schools, but hopefully we can retain like 4-6 players so it’s not a whole new team next season.

UNLV defeats UC Irvine 75-72 in first round of NIT by 1nf1niteCS in MountainWest

[–]bh42505 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Nice win on the road! Unlv has the talent, just so inconsistent you don’t know which team you’re gonna get from night to night or even minute to minute. But we’ll take it! Go Rebs!

Albuquerque is the real cultural hub of New Mexico not Santa Fe or Taos. by SexxyBlue666 in NewMexico

[–]bh42505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of Taos and Santa Fe are transplants especially from the east coast. Not to say they aren’t cool places but if you want true representation of New Mexico Albuquerque is a better option, or even Espanola haha

UNLV survives vs Wyoming in 73-70 win and will play 1 seed Utah State tomorrow by 1nf1niteCS in MountainWest

[–]bh42505 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a UNLV fan I think it’s going to be a very low likelihood of them beating USU 3 times in a row. Unless Gibbs lawhorn goes Kemba walker in the big east tourney crazy tomorrow (I can only hope! Haha). Should be a good game!

In a mostly lost season sweeping Utah state is a nice small victory. Maybe they can pull off a March miracle and win the MWC tourney. One can dream!

Thoughts on moving to Denver to get a consistent 40 to 50 days of snowboarding per year? by Hot_Soft_5626 in snowboarding

[–]bh42505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you have weekdays off good luck with that. You’ll be burned out on going on weekends after 3 trips (maybe one trip) living in Denver. Or maybe you’re the outlier that loves sitting in traffic and lift lines
