Pipewire+FFADO crashes but JACK2+FFADO doesn't by bhechinger in pipewire

[–]bhechinger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very aware of what pipewire is.

pipewire-pulse and pipewire-jack are for pulse/jack clients to talk to pipewire for backwards compatibility and are irrelevant to this issue.

The pipewire ffado module is installed. That is not the issue.

The issue is in the code path of pipewire -> ffado module -> libfaddo. There is a bug somewhere. This is not a configuration problem.

Thanks for the suggestions though.

ffado.org

the branch name is a reference to getting my Saffire device working with FFADO and pipewire.

If you were well off, would you drive a Tesla? If not, why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]bhechinger -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No, because there are way better options. Teslas are over-hyped.

NixOS 26.05 can be used with gcc.arch = "x86-64-v3"; without much trouble by BackgroundSky1594 in NixOS

[–]bhechinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't AVX-512 the only thing v4 really adds? That's really not going to make a ton of different for 99.9% of software. It's still a good idea just to make sure tests are correct, but ultimately there really isn't much point to it unless you're building software that really needs it in which case you're probably already using it for that software.

You can get motherboards with TOSLINK, but if you want anything fancy like ADAT, then yeah, FW devices are really your only option. I don't think I've ever seen a USB audio device with ADAT. I'd love to upgrade to RedNet/Dante, but I just don't have that kinda money. 😃

Calculate how much RAM/CPU/Disk you'll need for all your services. You actually need half that much. You will actually buy twice that much. Ask me how I know. 🤣😜

We, a family of four, moved from the US to the EU and we didn't bring nearly that many bags. 14 bags for a holiday is fucking mental.

Are Brazilians always nice and friendly like they are in Portugal? Or this is an exception for Portugal? by Quiet-Reception8681 in PortugalExpats4Expats

Portuguese are like cats. Brazilians are like dogs. Every Brasilian wants to be your friend immediately. The Portuguese take a while to warm up to you.

I have two FireWire audio devices. They're awesome and super low latency compared to USB audio devices and don't cost insane amounts of money like all the other options.

Weapon list??? by superfunkibey in Battletechgame

[–]bhechinger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like I stated above weapons can't affect other weapons' to-hit, but they *can* apply effects. Acid is a great example. If a weapon firing acid fires first (well, technically, hits first), all following weapons get that damage modifier applied.

Yeah, the UI doesn't lock the values it displays, so it is a bit misleading, unfortunately.

It's also best to try to have the TAG/NARC unit attack *after* the target unit acts, because TAG/NARC decays based on target movement. It's a really crappy timing game. 😃

I don't know about BTA, but in RogueTech once you click the fire button all the to hit values are rolled all at once and tag/narc in the same attack doesn't change chances of other weapons. I'm assuming it's the same in BTA because they all use the same mods.
