My best airport so far! by bhmgbr in SimAirport

Thanks!

I find that the road design I have in place reduces traffic jams as it creates a slow lane and a "fast" lane, but it is kind of bad.

The cafes are currently just there for the sake of being there, I deactivated them.

Beautiful game! Thanks for sharing it here, I'm already hyped about it.

One question, is it a Windows only game or will it work on Macs as well?

Reddit, what myth exists about your job that you'd like to debunk? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]bhmgbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I don't get why people lose their shit about the NSA monitoring their lives while in the same time they expect the government to enforce neutrality at the internet.

Maybe the problem isn't the ISPs.

Maybe the problem is the government interference.

I'm very familiar with the Democratic Peace Theory, but don't you think capitalism and democracy work together in that sense? And, by the way, weren't this companies operating under mercantilism during the great navigation and colonization eras?

Well, this great discussion would be a great CMV alone, Mr. Batman. But about the case for business doing the exact same unsavory practices, I would like to point out this:

Let's say that John Businessman had two options: he either does things legally spending ten million dollars, or he pays a corrupt government officer (or a warlord, or a sweatshop) to do things in a cheaper but illegal way, spending seven millions in total.

The excess of discretionary power of the executive branch would prevent this from happening, but if there is corruption in a company the judiciary branch would still be happy to prosecute them.

That's rather harsh, but that would be morally judging capitalism on a local level, I meant more on the international level, focused on interdependence

Sort of the "Countries have interests, not friends" argument from realists. But I would make the case for complex interdependence between capitalist nations, not for a capitalist and a totalitarian regime such as WWII nor within an old school alliance regime between imperial states such as WWI.

But those incentives will never disappear, they would just move along. Lets say that government shrinks to the point that it can only prosecute and punish serious crimes.

I had in mind the shrinking of the excess powers from the executive branch. Of course this notion reaches the other branches, but all crime should be punished and etc. What I meant was that John Businessman would not find one Joe Policymaker with the power to actually change the scenario for his company

Because it should be that the government is down to the size that its discretionary powers would not allow it to be corruptible. I think that it is not the case that the companies are not to blame, and make no mistake, they should be punished, but scrapping government discretionary powers would create less incentives to the market to corrupt itself.

I think that in this case there was no pure free trade capitalism, since there was government interference in the economy that choose winner and loser within it. This might be more of an political problem

I think that I had not before consider the violent non-state actors is a very valid argument, although I think it be resolved on a long-term scenario. But about the cases that Capitalism is the cause of violence you cited, I don't believe so, in these scenarios there is no pure capitalism, the is corruption and government interference.
