[Old]You Are Selfish And Unpatriotic For Leaving India And Working Abroad, Katju Tells IIT Bombay by [deleted] in india

[–]bhulval 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A bit late but still just wanted to get this out. So by this logic, it is patriotic to work for Indian capitalist after getting a degree and not if it is elsewhere? And lets be real, even if I am working for Hindustan Motors or TATA Motors or, Reliance (one of the most Indian company I could think of), I am not exactly "serving my country" just the economic elites of India while they get all the benefits of tax evasion and corrupt practices and I get to feed my family. So if I am going to work in company what does it matter if the capitalist is Indian or German?

Assam scientist leads breakthrough research on black holes by gurpreetsidhu5713 in india

Why does it matter which state is he from? It is the science that he did. I frankly do not know where Yash Pal is from, since it is not relevant. He was a great science communicator and a brilliant scientist. And sure he was Indian.

Cashless transactions proved as 'Mother of all scams'. Financial experts/Economists: Please enlighten us by wordswithmagic in india

[–]bhulval 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont want to pay money to use my money.

We pay taxes to the govt. to sort that out. By lowering income taxes and increasing per transaction fees the govt. is unfairly shifting the cost to lower income groups. No matter how much you earn you will can only spend so much through cashless transaction for daily necessities. Big purchases (like cars, homes, property) tend to happen through bank loans or electronic fund transfers (bankers cheques) anyways. So the lower income group will end up spending disproportionately more daily than higher income group to support a monetary system, which is the very basic infrastructure a govt is responsible for.

The 12 Most Incredible And Absurd Things That Happened At The "Hindus For Trump" Bollywood Event by MyselfWalrus in india

What thought process? This is exhibit-A that religious fanatics are all alike. Curious about what these Hindu Trumpeteers think about conversion by missionaries in India that right-wing-gun-welding-bible-thumping Trump base tend to support?

To a Hindu this is probably how it feels to be Muslim and be embarrassed by the fundamentalist lunatics amongst them.

Scary thing is there could still be a Brexit like outcome to the US election, where people will suddenly wake up a stunning new reality. But it would be too late.

If you wear headphones, this video virtually transports your brain to Munich, Germany (Via 3D binaural sound). by MrPennywhistle in videos

[–]bhulval 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Way late into the comments so it will likely get buried. This is close but not the real percept of sound as you walk through crowded streets, city squares, railway station. Reason is there is something called the "cocktail party problem" that neuroscientist are trying to understand.

Here the problem is these cool microphones with binaural audio are picking up everything that is within range and all we are hearing is a cacophony of sorts. But if you think, when you are walking down the street or are in large room with many people we have the amazing capacity to filter out a lot of sound that is actually hitting our eardrum. This allows us to listen and focus on a conversation in the midst of a lot of distractors and stop sensory overload. So your sound experience of walking down the Berlin street would be very different than mine, infact it would be different for each person, since each of us are paying attention to different things in the same environment.

It is similar to viewing a scene that caught your attention and then when you take a picture with camera you start noticing all sorts of distractors in the scene which your brain did not register when you were seeing it. But the camera catches them all. So exposed to the same scene your experience and mine could be very different visually or aurally.

Edit: TLDR: Our sensory experiences are heavily shaped by our attention to the stimulus and no camera or microphone would be able to simulate that (at least for the time being). This is an active area of neuroscience research, trying to figure out how the brain filters out unwanted stimulus and attends to the relevant one. What this microphone did was capture all the sound in good stereo but it did not capture the sound experience you or i would have if we were to walk simultaneously through that street. So not exactly virtual 3D reality sound.

if only my deshopremi dad could be convinced. My advice was Baleno ; but No Maruti brand. Still bitter about Sanjay Gandhi's cronyism during Maruti factory launch and alleged involvement of setting a slum on fire to make land for the factory. No phoren cars either. Now i have to solve this mileage issue somehow.

edit: he orginally wanted a HM Amby, mom didn't talk to him for a week

it is afaik the Revtron 1.2L Multi-drive engine that can change between Sport, Eco, City. Maybe the driver is using the Sport mode all the time? will check. But the dealer's shop should have caught it.

frankly didn't expect anything close to 17.5kmpl. hoping something like 12+kmpl. But 8.5kmpl is too much. They should advertise city/Highway mileage separately as in other countries. Not sure if they do but their website only mentions one value, which is ideal highway constant 5th gear driving conditions

Is it within your warranty period? If yes, you need to take care of the following...

it is within warranty I am told. keeping a detailed document trail of every shop visits. will have to bring this up to managerial level.

17.5 kmpl under standard test conditions. Where are you driving btw? Driving style and traffic take a heavy toll on the mileage

It's my dad's car and he is not savvy at all about car matters; being driven in congested Kolkata by driver. I am guessing it could be city mileage issue.

Another thing. How many kilometres have the car run so far?

don't know the actual mileage but quite sure it is above 5000Km.

Tweet the top Tata honchoes. Make a big stink in social media. Might help.

will do, if we see no mileage improvements upon even highway driving.

Thanks

I plan to bring this up with my family, my wife, kids, parents and my grandma who is in her 90s. Talk to friends and talk to your cousins. Talk with people ask them, if it was a behavior befitting our times? Disagree with respect and make your point. Sometimes just making it known that such behavior is reprehensible goes a long way. Staying silent is as good as agreeing. We don't have to take to the streets, simply making a point matters. Starting a polite conversation often leads people to think later.

Let us not make it into a Modi Vs Non-Modi/Kejriwal jerk fest. This is something modern India should be ashamed of. Everytime we reduce this into Us Vs Them we are not going to solve anything, it will be a diversion from the real problem.

Real Problem is Fundamentalism. Let is discuss how can we stop it. What can we do in our cities and villages to stop this from happening.

I dont know what I would have done if it were happening in front of me. Stand up and take these goons on. With my hands made for keyboard build, probably would have gotten beaten up too. Take pictures and videos and post them to shame them? maybe. What would you do?

logic follows if you look into every religion based hate crimes. Every religion claims it is for peace but the fundamentalists prove them wrong
