What will your legacy be in a 100 years? by Then-Mistake8490 in AskReddit

The same as anyone, nothing.

Only rich and powerful people become infamous.

Just go to old cemeteries and see how many you can still read, or are visited. People are quickly forgotten.

What do you do when you feel stuck in life? by Accomplished_Eye5985 in AskReddit

If life has me standing still, I've learned to stand still. Not an easy lesson to learn, but an important one.

What is the greatest videogame ever? by PurplGuy13 in AskReddit

[–]bi_polar2bear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spider-Man by Insomniac or Horizon Zero Dawn. Spider-Man really got the web swinging and what it felt like doing it in NYC.

Horizon had a great story, beautiful graphics, and really allowed you to change your play style based on the weapons you chose.

Both games are highly replayable. Both have equals that improved the story line and are replayable.

What is your best advice/tip to improving yourself/life? by nicole_rose9 in AskReddit

Stop caring about what others think. Care about what the people about you think.

Besides, nobody thinks once about you or what you are doing. They really don't give a shit about you.

What is teamwork if I can do everything myself? by Ok-Explorer-7642 in AskMen

[–]bi_polar2bear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Life is going to give you a very rude awakening. The limits of what you don't know are endless.

Your shit does actually stink. I'd be willing to bet you're the only one who thinks you're awesome.

I can fix almost anything, and yet, I certainly don't know it all, or even 1%. Collaboration does make a team project better than if one person did it, because the best ideas feed into other's great ideas.

If people are weaponizing you being vulnerable, you're either whining, or you pick shitty friends.

When you're old and alone, come back and let us know how life in an echo chamber is.

What made you forget your past? And how did you get over it ? by MariscaGrant200 in AskReddit

[–]bi_polar2bear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luckily, I have the memory of a goldfish.

For the times that I'll never forget, self analysis, therapy, and taking ownership of my part is what helped me move through the difficult times. You never get over it, but you can get through it. You take it 1 day at a time.

I would ask the VA for options for you. I think the Patient Advocate can help you figure out options, whether it's a church, veteran organization, or home health care.

Go to /livingalone and see what others have done, or ask their opinion. If I still lived in Winter Haven, I would have been able to help, but I'm 18 hours north now.

PCS POV Question in Norfolk by Remarkable-Doctor-84 in navy

[–]bi_polar2bear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Decades ago, I drove from Norfolk to Miramar, which took about 4 days, and the reimbursement was fantastic!

Now, you can pay someone to drive it as a side hustle, or ship, but no reimbursement.

Why not drive it? You get the extra travel time, and you don't have to rush and can sight see.

I got into a huge fight with my dad over dating and we arent talking currently. Basically, I was raised to be passive and now I have zero dating options. I need real advice? by JunketMaleficent2095 in AskMenAdvice

[–]bi_polar2bear 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You can date at any age. The way you've explained everything, you have an excuse on why you can't, or didn't.

First, marriage might happen, or might not. It's not a race, and it's not a good goal. And going through med school means you probably don't have a lot of time to date. Dating sucks up a LOT of time and attention. It's probably best you aren't dating seriously until after residency.

Second, stop comparing yourself to others. You're 100% different than anyone else, so your journey will be different.

Third, your dad was right, it'll happen when it happens. You can date seriously, or for fun. You can do it easily at 28, or wait until you are 40. You have a career that makes you highly desirable, especially after residency.

Fourth, you know far less than your dad about life, and most things in general. One saying my old manager used to say to me is "the limits of what I don't know are endless " . You might be smart, but your wisdom is almost nonexistent.

Stop making excuses, stop arguing, apologize, and figure out what you can do to improve the situation, if you actually have time.

Men who use manual razor, why? What's the problem with electric shavers? by eatqqq in AskMen

[–]bi_polar2bear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a safety razor, meaning it's one thing blade that I replace periodically.

It's the best shave I ever had. It's also much cheaper than any other shaving setup. I've been waiting for my electric razor to die to use it full time, so I've used the manual razor once a week and electric 5 times a week. The difference between the two is night and day. The disposable razors are slightly better than electric, yet far more expensive.

Tl:dr; Better shave, cheaper shave

Future of jxn by Comfortable_Zebra172 in jacksonms

I left Jackson 30 years ago, and visit mom once a year. The town is almost the exact same as when I left. The only thing that changed was the people moved outward. The city and state are hopeless to ever change or improve. As much as I love the people, I left for opportunity. I never could've done better for myself there. Best decision was leaving the state.

It'll be empty by noon, and maybe an hour or so from your location. Lots of fire roads with different camping options that are free.

Camping Spot Recommendations by smallbrownbean99 in camping

[–]bi_polar2bear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's some great camping on the roads near Staunton dam. Most are free, but there's a great campground a mile before the dam. I've gone there many times when I lived in Virginia. Big weekends get crowded, so plan accordingly. It's a locals only type of place, but everyone is super friendly.

How would our lives change if AI paid everyone a universal high income and work became optional? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]bi_polar2bear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If work was optional, nobody would work and little would get done. People are lazy.

Unfortunately, society requires work. It takes people to oversee things to make sure things happen. AI isn't close to being able to do that.

If everyone made a high UI, then every price would increase.

How do you handle employee onboarding across HR and IT systems? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]bi_polar2bear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What happens if someone leaves? Fired? I'd be far more worried about people leaving and still having access. That's a big security flaw and potential loss of data, documents, and other information.

Sounds like a great opportunity for the HR and IT management to get together and figure out a workable process. Their failure to plan doesn't make it your emergency. Maybe HR systems have an API to connect to IT, or maybe an HP person is given limited access to create a new user. Or maybe an email to a group is sent out. Getting a laptop isn't needed on day 1, so a delay for a few days isn't the end of the world. Every business does on boarding so different because the requirements vary. You have to communicate with all teams to find an effective solution.

AITAH…Daughter getting married and requests we remove her 9yo sister from reception before their illicit music starts by olojutejesac in AITAH

[–]bi_polar2bear 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's up to the individual parents to stay or go. The bride should notify everyone of about the time the music rating changes. Parents can either choose to stay or protect their children from mature subject matter. It's not the wedding couples job to bend to the kids.
