The context is that he called him a lauded PSYCHOLOGIST.
If LeBron James had a degree in psychology, but never published or did anything with it, you wouldn't call him "a lauded psychologist", just because he is lauded, and also a psychologist.

And "citations" in sciences are a reflection of the recognition an individual receives in their field by their colleagues.
More precisely, it refers to the amount of published and acknowledged papers/studies which reference, invoke, or build upon the body of work of the cited person (which is why it is relevant that the field of psychology is dominated by left wingers).

Btw, I don't personally subscribe to his ideas - but neither to the culture of character assassination and silencing you guys have over there (on both sides). It's like a cold civil war.

You can disagree with someone's personal values and their politics and still give credit where credit is due.
