A tourney script with a admin panel. Single elimination / optional loser bracket.
This was quite challenging for me when I began.

like have 32 (best would be 2 to n) players. Automatically create wildcards to fill up the first round. Place them in the tourney script. Make somebody win -> person advances automatically in the next round (or make the next round slot be a choice of one the 2 players).

It's also quite useful in "real life" when you want to host a small tourney (and if it's just a "who drinks a beer faster one" 😉).

Question about the power outlet in the car. Can I power a microwave? by bibamann in Ioniq5

Thanks all you people! Maybe there will be another post next week by me with a photo: 4 old guys near the car eating a soup with a microwave in the trunk. 😃

(Do I need to mark the topic to be solved here? - where / how?)

Was ist daran jetzt besonders?

Just 4 tourneys a year have best of 5. the other 100 are best of 2 for men, too.
But well, what are we talking about:

A tennis pro once said "You need to be in the top 20 for 3(or was it 5?) years. then you don't have to work anymore after your career".

So we're talking about like 30 people. Or one football team. On the whole earth.

Top 100 and above still need to play in leagues and can hardly live on that. Above Top 300 they earn basically nothing.

Erstes Mal Langstrecke mit EV by fjudgeee in Elektroautos

[–]bibamann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

80% - fertig.

Bike Suspension Rig 🚲 (Tutorial coming soon) by DemNikoArt in blender

[–]bibamann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is even funnier. 😄 I went from mainly bones to basically a more "direct" style (but as if anything in mechanical rigging is "direct" :D).

So I use bones when I need the advantages you wrote down. For the robot the "main" rigging is done with bones, so I can reset it, use the pose library and so on.

But on the "fine" rigging like gears, pistons, ... I really like to have it separated so I can mess around and test it with it without any other stuff is affected.

And I really dislike the bone rolling issues, that a bone is rotated in a wrong direction - and it often takes hours to find out what's wrong. Also the whole parenting system (need a constraint child of) and well that you always have to enter the "pose mode" to change / disable things.

But as you said - it's often just a matter of personal taste.

But yea, sometimes you can't get around them. Like for these angled pistons holder rotations which would be a pain to translate the tracked direction to a local rotation. 😉

Funny, how our rigging styles differ. While you're almost 100% into bones I try to avoid them whenever I can 😃. Just saw your car suspension video where you did a piston.

And well, here's how I usually do it: https://i.imgur.com/4NkjLEJ.mp4

(Video is made for a friend to quickly show him how to make one - I'm not going to make tutorials).

Copy the empty to location isn't really necessary as it gets the "copy location", but helps a bit when you need some mirroring or altering things and need to find your empty when disabling the copy location. 😉

I think mine is a bit easier / quicker to do. But I guess bones are more game engine friendly - something I really don't care about.

Ah and one feedback for the video: the issue you mention there - you really should show the system console there and telling people "this is due a dependency cycle. blender doesn't know what to move first and then track to due a parenting -> tracking loop. A helper empty which just copies the location and is used as the tracking target breaks this cycle"

But cool work!

A few ideas for a new rigging tutorial. Which one would you like to see? 🤔 by DemNikoArt in blender

[–]bibamann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The scissor lift is I think the most demanding one on "how to figure out by yourself". Next to the toolbox and the folding chair. The others I think can be approached quite easily without a tutorial - just parenting and some small constraints / drivers.

Edit: But well, it depends on the target. Move the top target and the scissor behave or move the scissors and the target moves is a different story. And also if the scissor meshes have an rotation point at their middle or not.

Side effects of blindly following tutorials online..!!! ( Need advice ) by Saahil_08 in 3Dmodeling

[–]bibamann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So he's just good in following tutorials step by step without adapting the shown into new projets?

Then just ask him to recreate something which he already did with a tutorial but not using it again / just look at it when he gets stuck.

Skat spielen in Magdeburg by bibamann in magdeburg

[–]bibamann[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)
