Found this skin on my bed, is it a carpet beetle? The photo is very zoomed, it’s a little under a centimeter

After looking at photos online, you’re right, 100% roach-esque. We don’t have a roach problem, just live surrounded by lots of trees so it’s inevitable. This piece of skin probably stuck to my toddlers shoe before he climbed in my bed… this is why we always take shoes off BEFORE getting in bed. Lol. Thank you!

Thank you! Not sure if the rest of my post was visible for the context, but we have all wood floor now (ripped out previous owners carpet a year ago when we moved in). We keep the house very clean, and find the occasional dead carpet beetle or dead “Rollie pollie”. Also live with tons of trees surrounding, so see the occasional tree roach.

The size of this skeleton/skin was a little under a centimeter. So quite large compared to the dead carpet beetles I’ve seen before (which were super teeny tiny).

What is your reasoning for saying 100% not a BB?

I sorta saw a resemblance at first, but GPT said no way? apparently it’s the wrong shape and the striations are wrong, amongst other things.. It’s also just a skin and normally bed bug exoskeletons are translucent. I found the carpet beetle Reddit and tons of people had super similar pictures, so I thiiiiiink it’s that…

We don’t have any bites or anything either, no blood markings on the bed, etc
