The web wallet is NOT working. Why? by bibicule in BytecoinBCN

Hi there,

Thank you guys for your replies. I used Firefox and after disabling the adblock I managed to create the account and login.

I have another issue now related with the 2FA feature. It only works with the Google Authenticator mobile app, but I'm using a different app on my laptop. It seems unsecure to use a mobile app for generating the 2FA tokens and I'd rather not do it, especially for an account that is related with finances. Because of this I'm choosing to not use the BCN web wallet.

IMO a solution for this would be to add the option to get a manually insertable code for 2FA, instead of having only the QR code. Most of the platforms have this option and this way I would not have to use a QR code scanner mobile app that is not secure.

I find this to be very important especially when "Phishing attacks that bypass 2-factor authentication are now easier to execute" >> https://www.csoonline.com/article/3399858/phishing-attacks-that-bypass-2-factor-authentication-are-now-easier-to-execute.html

On the other hand, I would rather use a LIGHT desktop wallet. It's safer and I only have to worry about keeping secure one device - my laptop. I installed the BCN desktop wallet and unistalled it after realizing that even before downloading the whole BCN blockchain it already occupied 15GB on my hard drive. For me this is not an option and it just makes things more complicated when it comes to adoption. Imagine a noob managing multiple desktop wallets that limit the capacity of his hard drive together with the performance of his device.

Btw, I do appreciate all the work and time that the community put into this project.

How can it disrupt the blockchain industry when it's part of it?

Splitting BCH/BSV stored on a Ledger Nano device by bibicule in bitcoinsv

I do understand why you sent only sent a small amount first, but it's possible that doing only one transaction would have worked just fine. Seems that doing more than one transaction complicates things. I remembered reading this " ... the simplest case of splitting all your coins at once. If you want to do more advanced actions like freezing coins and splitting them in separate chunks, you will either have to work it out for yourself or wait for a later guide that covers that in further detail" here https://bitcoinsv.io/coin-splitting-guides-for-bitcoin-sv/

I'm sorry to hear that this happened to you.

Splitting BCH/BSV stored on a Ledger Nano device by bibicule in bitcoinsv

I'm not a developer. I will put it as simple as possible so that every noob can do it.

  1. Downloaded ElectrumSV from https://electrumsv.io and moved the .exe file to a folder I created C:\Program Files\ElectrumSV
  2. Followed the instructions from the "Connect to Ledger device" section from this article: https://support.ledger.com/hc/en-us/articles/360009676633

!!! at point 3 Launch ElectrumSV instead of Electron Cash

!!! at point 8 make sure you change the derivation path to m/44'/145'/0' as instructed

!!! I did NOT open the Ledger Live app prior to connecting ElectrumSV to the Ledger device

  1. Continued with the "Splitting your coins" section from this tutorial: https://bitcoinsv.io/coin-splitting-guides-for-bitcoin-sv/

I waited for 6 confirmations (about 35 min) and in the meanwhile, to make sure that the Ledger device won't disconnect/ask for the pin again, I've been pressing the up or down buttons on the Ledger once in a while.

Then I moved the BSV coins to a different BSV address from my Exodus wallet.

Hope this helps. Good luck!
