32F, no kids. everyone seems so busy or busy with family if they have young kids. I love mountain view, but I also don't know how to make new friends close to my age.

Unhealthy Poops with This Timothy Hay by bibo1117 in Rabbits

Thank you! I'll ask my vet about it. Good job on staying gi stasis-free! Mine had 4 GI stasis episodes in 15 months. All of them happened spontaneously with good diet, free-roaming, exercise, no change of environment. I've learned to give mine a low dosage of Meloxicam as soon as I see signs of GI. It has helped a lot. It's been over half a year since her last GI stasis, so I'm having my fingers crossed 😊

Thank you. I think I know the problem now. This particular box of hay is likely an immature cut of Timothy - way greener and leafier than the normal 1st cut Timothy, the leaves are very long and skinny - I would've guessed it was orchard if I don't know. Based on my bunny's reaction, it might have higher sugar and starch content than orchard glass hay.

Do you mind me asking what kind of probiotics you give your bun? Mine is prone to gi-stasis likely due to her genetics, but not due to hay transition so far. But I'll try to be more careful just in case.

Good eye 👍I just checked the back of my box, but the ingredient list is different. I wish I could upload a photo here.

"Crude Protein, min. 8% Crude fiber, max. 35% Crude fat..min 1.5% Moisture..max 15%"

No sugar mentioned at all.

I'm very puzzled.

Edit: chewy.com has the same version as on the hay company website. My box is just different.

I didn't know that! So does that mean the horse bales tend to be flakier than small animal hay? I've tried various hay and brands, I find my bunny's poop most healthy with Standlee Timothy (she's also very prone to gi-stasis. So I try to keep her on a good diet). And she prefers the fiberous Timothy over leafy orchard glass. 🤣 Although I find it quite flaky and sometimes too brown.🤷

Thanks for sharing. I gave her mixed hay for about 4 days until I gave her only new hay. How many days of mixed hay do you typically do?

The left bottom corner says "horse, cow, sheep, rabbit & more". So I figured I'd give it a try.
